Panthers to hold joint practice with Dolphins

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Local home improvement company Lowe’s has teamed up with the Carolina Panthers to present the Panthers’ 2015 training camp at Wofford College in Spartanburg, South Carolina. As training camp’s presenting sponsor, Lowe’s will help bring additional fan amenities and enhanced grounds to Wofford College this year.   Joint practices with the Miami Dolphins on Aug. 19 and Aug. 20 highlight the Panthers’ 2015 training camp. The practices will be held in advance of the preseason contest between the teams at Bank of America Stadium on Saturday, Aug. 22.    “I have a tremendous amount of respect for Coach (Joe) Philbin, and we’re excited to be working with the Dolphins,” Panthers head coach Ron Rivera said. “The Dolphins do some things differently on offense, defense and special teams so it will be an opportunity to work on all three phases of the game in controlled situations with really good tempo. Our players will see some different looks, and it will be a couple days of quality practice for us.”   The Panthers previously held joint training camp practices at Wofford College with the Detroit Lions in 2000.   Training camp opens on Friday, July 31 with the Lowe’s Kickoff Party. Admission is free and offers fun for the entire family with special on-field performances by the TopCats, PurrCussion DrumLine, and Black & Blue Crew prior to practice in Wofford’s Gibbs Stadium. Fans can also enjoy special activities and some of the Spartanburg region’s most popular food vendors. The Kickoff Party begins at 4:30 p.m. on the Gibbs Stadium plaza with practice scheduled 6:30-8:30 p.m.   The Panthers are scheduled to hold 14 practices that are open to the public while at Wofford with the team breaking camp on Thursday, Aug. 20.

I like the joint practice idea and think the teams should try to do this for at least one home and one away preseason game.  More than anything I think it will help the rookies get acclimated and to a lesser degree, knock some rust off of the vets.

​In before you get berated for choosing the wrong Cam (Wake).  I think Oher will see a lot of good looks from our defense but Wake is a dynamic player that should present a few wrinkles and dynamics.  Can only help Oher and anyone else on the OL
