CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Carolina Panthers released starting running back DeShaun Foster on Thursday, a move that clears salary-cap space and opens the door for DeAngelo Williams to become the team's featured back.

Foster was cut after a week of the Panthers trying to shop him in a trade.

 

They spent a high draft pick on Williams and wanted to save cap space. Foster was a solid player and his career could have continued at the same rate, it just so happened the year after he was cut that he suffered a serious injury and then retired.

​2007: 247 for 876 is 3.5 ypc. Dlo had 5.0 that year. 5.5 the next. He was just a whole different calibre of player than Foster.

I has sadder after seeing Beason in a Giants uni.

I was so pissed about Beason, it was essentially like if Kuechly were to now blow out his knee and achilles then get traded in a couple years of injuries.

DLo doesn't give me pains in another uniform.  Beason,  Smitty, and Peppers still do though.  I think the rumors of him being a diva and toxic in the locker room really made me see him in a different light.  Add to that how happy and full of comraderie the RB group is this year compared to previous years, I'm happy he's gone.
