Final Fantasy 7 remake

Don't know how many of you played FF7 back in the day, but this is pretty huge.  Probably the most requested remake of all time, and this news came out of fuging nowhere.

Love it! I just hope they keep the core game play,  turned based combat. Only thing besides the obvious graphics jump is just make more side quests.

​This is my biggest thing. With Square's love for active battle systems I really hope they don't try to mess with it. It won't be FFVII without turn based battle. Can do voice acting, redo the visuals etc. Basically take the game everyone loves and put a new coat of paint on it.

I have a feeling they're going to try and give it a Kingdom Hearts/FFXV style battle system to have it look more like the Advent Children movie.  I think Square even so much as said so a couple of years back they want all of their FF/Kingdom Heart games to resemble a fight scene from that movie.

If done right, I wouldn't be completely opposed to this... but it would be weird playing FFVII and it not be turn-based or at least active turn-based.

I just hope they don't go in needlessly removing poo like the cross-dressing scenes, the gym sequence where you do the squats, etc.

It was cheesy as hell but it's all the little things like that that added to the charm of the game.

Also, they don't need to go in adding a whole bunch of unnecessary poo to the story like those guys from Crisis Core either.  Maybe a mention or side quest or something, sure, but bogging it down with all that new stuff could backfire.

​Exactly. You can't take things away but also add too much, gotta walk a very thin line.  Id enjoy having extra difficulty setting or a new game plus after beating it for the 1st time.

They can re-release just as it was for new platforms and I'd be happy. That was a great game and I spent many, many, many hours playing it.

As long as it's not the Greatest Hits with the green label I think it's worth a good bit. I have my original too but it's definitely not unopened.

Hell, I think even an opened non Greatest Hits version is worth a lot... or it was anyways.  I remember at one time they were going for around a ridiculous $500.

I'll just hold on to it. I got two for Christmas and never opened the other. It's not the greatest hits. I wonder if a museum wants it?

Yeah but if you wait too long and when the remake hits (and assuming it goes beyond what the original did or even the same just with pretty graphics) chances are the price falls. I assume a museum probably already has one.
