Of all the things that might kill you at the beach / ocean....a shark is at the bottom at the list. The sun will kill thousands of people before a shark even touches someone but that doesn't stop most people (including me) from baking in it all day while at the ocean. 

I'd also swim with 10 sharks before letting some 24 year old high school drop out who just smoked a big bowl strap me into a harness and send me 500 feet in the air behind the the SS Minnow on one of those unregulated parasails.

There's a difference between fearing and respecting sharks. I respect them. I'm not exactly afraid of swimming in the ocean but you aren't going to catch me at dusk swimming in yellow trunks wearing jewelry either. I've noticed that this has sort of started a shark paranoia frenzy on facebook. People are sharing and posting videos of small 3-4 foot long sharks coming close to the beach like that's some scary thing. Most of those sharks wouldn't even pay a bit of attention to you.
