Top 5 since Jordan?

Recommended Posts

Once he had his meniscus surgery at Marquette, his NBA career was on borrowed time, and he quickly lost that explosiveness that made him so dominant in 2006. Also had some years where the Heat werent very relevant after that followed by LeBron being the alpha for the past four years.

It is sad, because he was right there with Kobe if not better for awhile, and then his knees started betraying him. To his credit he has his moments but just can't sustain it for 82 games like he used to.

Consistency and sustained success are what separate the greatest, though. Penny Hardaway was a phenomenal player before injuries, too. Pretty much every player in the NBA has a highlight reel of amazing plays. Consistency is what separates them. Whether it's injuries, work ethic, etc.

What about Garnett?  Guy is a punk but his stats are killer and he doesn't seem to get credit for changing the way the PF is played but he had impact just like Duncan did.

Amazing player and would be on my second team for sure

Can't put him over AI or LBJ imo

AI atleast carried his team to the finals and got the one game against a team that went 16-1 in the postseason. Garnett couldn't take the T-Wolves to the finals by himself.

Just a Laker/Kobe hater.

You can definitely make that argument during the Shaq era.

Kobe was simply the best of the post-MJ athletic shooting guard guys of the mid 2000s (Richardson, McGrady, Carter, AI, etc.)

There was no one like Lakers-era Shaq, and many thought during that power struggle that they should have chosen him instead of Kobe.

Kobe was definitely the best player on the team after that, though.

I agree with this. But just lol at people that state Kobe is not better than Gasol.
