WFNZ's primetime w/kris Kroeger sucks

I never thought Wfnz's primetime could get any worse than when hosted by Marc James. I was wrong, I was very wrong. I've given Kris Kroeger time to grow on me but he hasn't. His show is actually getting worse over time. His constant overly dramatic arguments with Tony over minor, uninteresting, non-sports related bulls1t is bad enough but today he hit an all time low. He went on a rant about racism and cam, out of nowhere...then he turned around in the same breath and called Kaeperdick a thug. What a complete douche bag.

That is because many if you incorrectly believe that everyone who uses the word thug do so as a racial term.  I am sure many do, but many do not .

Valid point, but what has Cam ever done since leaving the University of Florida that could be perceived as thuggish? There are guys that are thugs, but Cam has carried himself like a model citizen and pro. Johnny Manziel acts like a thug, but how many people actually call Manziel a thug? There are people who speak in code. Not everybody, but some. I'm not going to ignore it as Billy suggested. How is that even a solution?

It's weird because I was listening to WBT 1110 AM over the air while driving through Baltimore last week.

There is a perfectly logical and radio-geek explanation for why this is the case. FCC requires most stations to power down their signal after sunset. Some are allowed to stay full power and going directional instead. WBT is one of the latter.

They're 50,000 watt signal that broadcasts in a (generally) circular pattern goes directional at night, shooting (generally) North/South.

Imagine a garden hose with no sprayer on the end. The water flows steadily and freely normally. Through your thumb over the end and it suddenly shoots a lot further. Same amount of water in the hose, but you've affected the power of that pressure. That's essentially how WBT is at night. You can hear it all the way from Miami/Cuba up toward New York and Boston.

There are tons of weird examples of stations that you can get at night from various areas. I think we pick up a station from Akron once the sun goes down.

Like I said, radio geek.

Good Point, racisim   needs to be called out any and every time it becomes an issue. Just read a few comments in the Yahoo Sports story on Cams contract, for the most part you don't need to crack the code to see the racial hatred.

This has been an issue ever since the first black QB started his first game, but with Cam the bigoted vitriol seems to be in another gear.

To be fair, Manziel is more 'dumbass frat boy' than 'thug'.

What's funny is, people stereotype on the position in general. We had a lot of it yesterday on the show. People frame the conversation that no mobile QB's are successful in the NFL or can't win big games. Aaron Rodgers is a better athlete and spends just as much time out of the pocket as he spends in it. He throws on the run, he uses his legs to pick up first downs. Less designed runs? Sure. Drew Brees is another great example. Andrew Luck is every bit the athlete that Cam is and does a lot of the same things. Luck isn't the physical specimen, but he plays the game very similarly. Andrew Luck is "smarter" than Cam people say. Luck throws just as many if not far more INT's than Cam. His decision-making is extremely suspect.

My point is, not every detractor is racially motivated, but there are stereotypes that are perpetuated (a lot of that is by people in my line of work) and stereotyping is a form of discrimination too.

I'm not race-baiting...just trying to have a thoughtful conversation on the issue, but seemed Billy doesn't like it. To each their own.

Maybe, but again, think of what is said if that's Cam or if that's RGIII or Jameis Winston doing a lot of those same things. Getting into fights in elevators, living a party lifestyle, drinking problem. It's probably not framed as just a college kid being college kid if it's some of those guys.

Like you said in an earlier post, some people are so uncomfortable with the subject of race, they'd rather everybody just to bury their heads in the sand instead of standing up and calling it for what it is.

Do not get me wrong.  I think Cam gets WAY too much criticism and grief from the media.....and I am not sure why.

I do not think it us a race thing as guys like a bridgewater, etc do not get the same treatment.  I brush it off as the so called experts being idiots.

I get what you mean, but I don't know if Winston's the best example to cite in the 'dumb college kid' category. For some of the stuff, yeah. But when you throw in rape accusations it's a whole other story.

As far as the 'on field' stuff though, there's a load of misconceptions in that discussion. I might address those later in a separate thread.
