Game Comments - Preseason vs Steelers

Mr. Scot

Recommended Posts

I'm with you, I believe some games are being replayed again even before this one is on for the first time. Sheesh.
Just about every game, I think, is going to be played (and re-played) before they show ours. Just awful!

mark jones = ricky manning jr.

rule change will make him obsolete.

he needed the wedge to be effective.

without the wedge returners now have to be a whole lot faster and shiftier and able to skat in the open field. jones was slow.

All granted although these young kids think it's as hard as differential calculus fielding a kickoff or punt. Good grief! We might want him back just for the sake of not putting it on the ground.:(

What Dwayne Jarrett has on John Fox is that he's a 6-5 receiver with soft hands and the ability to take a hit after the catch. Also, he has done something that Kenneth Moore never has..... which is caught a ball on 3rd down in the National Football League. Not to mention he is a year and a half younger than Kenneth Moore.

Jarrett at 22 years old is NOW the age that most WR enter the league. Despite his exceptional talent, it's obvious that his mind has not matured as quickly as his body. He runs fluid routes, has butter soft hands, and isn't afraid of contact. However, when you look him in the eyes there is a bit of a void and a smirk of immaturity. At this point in time, he does not "get it". As Mike Rucker alluded to many times last night to general players, he does not have that "want to" in his game right now. Everything to this point has been easy for Jarrett from his prep career all the way to his first season with the Panthers. Now he is facing adversity and he has to respond.

The coaches have more access to this young man than we do. If they see a reason to keep him, aside from him being a 2nd round pick, then they should do it. The truth is that he didn't have a lot of balls thrown his way this preseason and when he did, he brought them in if they were reasonable to bring in. He has size and athleticism that you cannot teach.

I am encouraged by what Kenneth Moore has shown as the next guy and I am really excited for him to make the team, but we should be reasonable here. He is another undersized WR option with less than ideal speed and athleticism. He does a great job of using what he has, but he's not as fast as Smith or even Robinson whom we cut. He's just your average slot guy with a really strong set of hands and a heart of a lion. He has no ceiling beyond that in my estimation. Not that there is anything wrong with that .... in fact it's a fantastic find on our part. However, with Jarrett you have a player who could be an ideal 2nd WR for a very long time in this league. We just have to get a bit more from him.

I think DJ and Jake just don't have the chemistry they need to. Even though he isn't the fastest player, he still gets open. It seems like jake just doesn't trust him. He didn't play with Jake last night, but when he has it seems like Jake doesn't find him even when he is open. He has great hands, and I still think he has the ability to be a solid reciever if he and Jake can get on the same page.

I'll take this! Sounds like a younger Ricky Proehl to me. Or Wes Welker? Yep, pretty reasonable to me. :P

So how long do we hang onto the young, immature but skilled Mr. Jarret? We kept Colbert way too long. He's still dropping passes but doing it for the Lions now. :D

Mr. Scot,

Have you ever thought of making writing your profession?

It's a dream of mine, honestly.

Just went back and looked at the tapes tonight. You were right Scot... it was Fiametta, which I can live with since he's a rookie. I could have sworn it said 47... I blame old age ;)

I made the same mistake first time. Good thing we aren't refs, eh?
