thomas96, at least you didn't get all sensitive.  For some reason I can't quote you, but suffice it to say that if Boykin doesn't make it, I am not going to cry about it. Like I told you last month, I am less concerned with the name on the jersey than the play on the field. I really am all for whoever makes the team better. If Brown has improved that much and beats out Boykin or anyone else, then wonderful. I am just not going to discount Boykin or crown anyone else based on  small sample size of OTAs. Moreover, I told you several weeks ago that Brown's chances were looking a lot better with how th draft fell.  Perhaps he'll shock me and get more than a pittance of playing time this season. As long as he earns it, it's all good. 

 

I do believe that you're downplaying blocking and ST abilities, but who knows, maybe your dog (in the fight) has made strides there. ;) :)

They worry about coaching who is there, and don't play silly "what if ", games.

​I was just messin with you... This is a good thread and your thoughts on it are completely reasonable. As for Boykin, I just don't think his impact as a WR will be enough to make the roster. ST and blocking alone shouldn't get someone a roster spot, in my opinion. We'll see. I'd much prefer he makes the final roster than Cotchery (with whoever does make it getting very little playing time), but I don't anticipate it. From watching last year though I truly feel Brown is a lock (based on that ability plus any improvements, age, and cost - he's costing us nearly nothing for the next two years, it would be silly to let a young, cheap talent like him walk away), and would be even without the speed and size increases that Jeremy told us about last week. That's just icing on the cake. I really don't know with Hill. I'd like to see him make it, but I'm not getting my hopes super high. He had numerous chances to get signed by any of the 31 other teams or called up to our roster and he never did. KB, Funch, Ginn are locks in my opinion so that leaves 1 or 2 open spots and I want the best player there. If it's Boykin then I'm happy with it. My bet would be Cotch and Hill, but Boykin and Hill would satisfy me if that's how it turns out. Regardless, like you said it will be great having some actual talent at the position and competition. Can't wait to see how it plays out.

Whatever. I am a fan, and I do play what if games on occasion, not that there is anything "what if" expressed in the OP. Call it back pedaling all you like. I am not the least bit ashamed of anything that I have written, so I am not back peddling from anything.
