Amazing how quickly we are to start badmouthing the team's all-time leading rusher just like last year when we did it to our all-time leading receiver.

Speaking of that I just looked up our all-time leading rushers.  In a few years Cam Newton is going to be #3 on that list.

I'm gonna miss Deangelo.  Of course I know him leaving was better for the team, but I had a sentimental attachment to him as a Panther.  Was one of my favorite players in college and I had completely assumed there was no way were going to even consider a runningback in that draft.  Low and behold, I came back home late from work on draft day to see he was our selection... I freaked haha.  I was one of the people who thought he should have won the Heisman over Vince Young and Reggie Bush.

He was a good player and a good person as well. I wish him the best.

The truth is that he, along with Smith and Charles Johnson were lucky enough to be in a contract year before the 'lockout' and they were paid way too much money because the fanbase was complaining about Jerry Richardson going cheap and not spending money for a championship run.

I am glad we are past all of that now. Yes C Johnson is still oon the team, but he has honestly earned his 'oversized' contract with his consistancy and he is actually underatted as a pass rusher and a very good run defender too.

There is simply no way I would ever blame the fan base for Marty Hurney being the idiot he is and putting these ridiculous contracts to paper for DWill, Johnson and (still on our books) J Stewart.

Smitty at least earned his contracts, like CJ.

Huddlers would do the same thing to Cam once his contract expires years later and signed by other teams.

    • The problem with drafting a DE/EDGE high in the 1st is the bust factor.  That position group busts at a scary rate.  We HAVE to hit our first 3 rounds.  Cant take chances on tweeners or potential guys.
    • Man folks right on this site said Deion was gonna follow his son to the nfl and have a big impact on his draft stock with his interference and yet we have seen no such thing. He just signed an extension to stay in Colorado for the foreseeable future. The only thing we have seen is so called experts try to tank shedeurs stock with false accusations and rumors and deion just had to step in and shut it down. This why you have to stop listening to what certain people say. Too much hate and emotion in most opinions.
    • That's sound logic! I think we could make a case for a few players. I know its not popular  with a few but Warren gives to the  identity we want. Tremble is mostly a blocker. Sanders flashed late but mostly a receiving  threat at the moment. Warren is an automatic 1st down, run blocks, runs the ball and can even line up and throw it. To me he is if you took the Taysom Hill and actually could play tight end too. I just think looking at Goedert, Kelce,  Laporta, Hoeckenson, Baltimore Tight ends, Knox and Kindcaid and etc... all the  last few teams had stellar Tight end play. Warren allows you to be unpredictable  on offense bc he is equally good at being a target, as he is a blocker. Don't want to run Bryce on a qb sneak, plug Warren in with the threat to pass. I would be happy with him, Walker or a few others. As long as the player isn't riding the bench year 1.
