Backpacking through Europe!

Btw after a week in Paris, I would move there the instant I get back if I could get a job, so far my 2nd favorite city. Sydney Australia being #1.

How's London going for you? The finest city in the world to spend a summer (unless it's raining, which it is today). Let me know if you need tips while you're here.

I can offer some suggestion in Ireland depending on where you are going.

I'm sure he'll hit you up if he needs to know the best joints to find whiskey, Colcannon, and black pudding or if he is dying to find a Denny's in Galway.

I might be heading back for a 2nd time later this summer. I'll be heading to Westport then to an old family pub in Sligo. My wife won't be coming with so there will pry be some golfing, fishing, and more hawking this time around

As I said it all depends on what you like and want to do.

Dublin is like any city and I wold spend a little time there as I could but that is just me.

West Ireland is where it is at.

If you can get out to Dingle I would.

Also out where the Cliffs of Moher are is also the Burren which has some nice hiking.  You can stop by Comcorcroe Abbey which is pretty cool.

Killarney National Park is gorgeous.

If you go along the southern coast I would stop in Ardmore and go have a drink at the cliff hotel and Dungarvan is a great little town too. The locals like Kinsale but I wasn't a huge fan of it.

Enjoy. I quit my job at 34 to do the same. After 3 months in Europe I ended up with 2 strangers driving and camping around Africa for a year. There I met folks travelling by bicycle.....now that's sort of my biggest hobby. Until 34 I think I had been to maybe 3 other countries. In 5 years now I think that's up near 50 or so. See where the journey takes you.

Dingle was one of my first stops.

I really liked Romania, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Serbia, and Bosnia. Fewer Americans and more genuine people than the kids you meet in Western Europe who just go to clubs to drink and might as well have just stayed home.

  • 2 weeks later...

To check in, I just finished my time in Ireland, not a fan of Dublin, London and Paris are much better city's, Galway on the west coast isn't bad, but when I went to see the cliffs of Moher, weather was terrible and I had maybe 20 ft of visibility and that's not a exaggeration. Wish I had 3 more days in Ireland so I could see more of it but oh well :-P

I'm on a slow route to Berlin now, should get there by Sunday morning local time.

I'd say right now there is a strong chance that I quit my job in April next year and just travel for a bit(as long as I can). I almost quit 2 months ago and didn't because I had this trip coming up.
