I don't think it's completely necessary to have gaudy stats to be considered for the MVP. Just as an extreme example, if Cam has a slightly better than average yr stats wise BUT we go 16-0, and our offense is efficient and grinding the ball so we win all those games by an average of less than 7 points...he's in the MVP race.

if he's leading the team and doing well while the team enjoys ridiculous success, that's all that's needed. In fact, I'd say wins are the most important stat for the MVP, and then individual stats. So just by virtue of the team doing well and Cam doing well, he's in the mix.

Yeah but let's be realistic , your gonna have to score more than 14pts to win a game in NFL

Our offense will be effective and should be good in the redzone.  But that means the teams will score a number of ways which is not what makes for a MVP in the league which is gaudy numbers not wins or losses.  Balanced is great for the team but not what makes for MVP races.  Cam will be our MVP but not the league MVP.

I get your point to an extent but Rodgers didn't lead any of the passing stay categories and won the award last year with really good but not gaudy numbers.

These days if you're not throwing for 5k yards or 50 TD's it's like you're just average. Cam is a different kind of special, he can throw for 4k and run for 15 TD's and he still gets no love.

Rodgers has never done either. He isn't considered average and has two MVPs.

Sure but my point is if we won every game 14-10, Cam would be in the mix if he was efficient for the year. Wins mean the most then probably TD-INT ratio. At least that's how it seems. Of course having a truly gaudy yr numbers wise like Manning 2 yrs ago or Brady that one yr w Moss also gets a ton of attention. But I think wins matter most.

Rodgers won the MVP in 2014 and 2011.  HIs stats for those years:

His quarterback rating for 2014 was 112.  In 2011 it was 122.

in 2014 he threw for threw for 4400 yards with a 65% completion rating for a average of 8.4 yards per attempt. His interception percentage was 1% of attempts.

In 2011 the numbers were even better- He threw for 4600 yards completed over 68% of his passes and had a 9.2 yards per attempt. His interception percentage was 1.2% of attempts.

His career numbers- passer rating of 106. Completion percentage over 65%, average yards per attempt of 8.2.  226 TDs versus 53 Interceptions for a TD/INT ratio of 4. Interception percentage of attempts is 1.6.

Compare that to Newton who has a career passing rating of 85, and completion percentage of under 60 and an average yards per attempt of 7.5.  Cam has a TD/INT ratio of roughly 1.5.  His interception percentage of attempts is 2.8%.

And lets keep in mind that Rodgers actually had over a 100 passer rating every year but one since 2007.  He has consistently been near 65% in passer completion since 2008.

Those of you who think Cam is even close to that type of consistent performance are deluding themselves.  This is year 5 and Cam has never had a passer rating of even 90.   He is not even in the running for best QB in the conference let alone MVP of the league.

yea but no other QB has 33 rushing TD's bro and its not like he has reached his limit as a passer.  He finally has a above average OL and WR corp, I'm willing to bet he is going to have 60%+ passer rating from now on. I'll put my money where my mouth  is.

You mean to tell me that arguably the best QB in the NFL, who is also a 10 year veteran, has better looking numbers than a QB with only 4 full seasons under his belt?

Why that is simply shocking.

Like usual you take one discussion and turn it into something totally different. If you followed the conversation you would know my response was to a hugger arguing that Rodgers was a multiple winner MVP and didn't put up much better numbers than Cam as a way of saying that Cam was already MVP material. I was pointing out that Rodgers had much better numbers and they were not close in production. Try to keep up or butt out.
