Who is Your Favorite Panther of All Time?

Nick Goings has been my favorite since the 2004 season when he started as the backup fullback. Injuries made him the feature back for our winning streak at the end of the season and he launched off 6 straight 100 yard games. Dude wanted to play football and he would do anything that needed to be done to play football.

Who is your favorite Panther of all time? I'm not asking you who you think is the best actual player, but who you enjoyed watching play in a Carolina Panthers uniform the most.

It's hard to narrow it down with some many good memories over the years.

Wesley Walls would be my pick from the early years. I can still vividly remember him snatching a touchdown out of the air over a defender and doing an air guitar in the end zone on one knee.

Jake Delhomme would be a close second. The fire and passion for the game he had was awesome. We desperately missed that quality in a QB after his departure until Cam came along.

Dan Morgan. From The U. Drafted by the Panthers at 11 overall in 2001. Helped a record breaking turn around in that defense. Had 25 tackles in the SuperBowl. 25. Tackles. In the SuperBowl.

He was a beast and was my favorite player. Unfortunately he had no off switch and was 110% everytime. Hurt himself out of the league. The name is just a coincidence. I told you guys before about my pirate days.

Steve has to be #1 for a dozen obvious reasons, but my runner-up is Will Witherspoon.  That man could do it all and was a very overlooked player on the great early 2000s defenses.  I'm never been as pissed as a Panthers fan as when we chose to keep gimpy Dan Morgan over Spoon.

"During Super Bowl XXXVIII, Witherspoon posted a career-high 16 tackles. He ended the campaign with a total of 99 tackles, one sack and one interception. The following year, "Spoon" was one of the few defensive players to start every game for the Panthers, who were wracked with injuries. Despite the loss of key personnel like defensive tackle Kris Jenkins, the Panthers led the league in interceptions. Witherspoon set personal bests with three sacks and four interceptions and a then career-high of 103 tackles. In 2005, his final year with the Panthers, Witherspoon played in 15 games and finished the season 81 tackles, 2.5 sacks and two interceptions."

Davis, was Jake back in the day, but I just really respect what Davis has done for this team.

Luke and Cam have a chance to take that spot, but it will take years and years.  I think that Luke has the best chance of being the first "home grown" Panther HOF'er though.

No way I can pick an all time favorite because I love so many guys equally the most that you can love any player, but if I had to pick one just for this I'll say Thomas Davis. Ask me again in 5 minutes and it'll be someone else though...
