Is Cam a "franchise QB" by default? The fallout from Cam's mouth still coming.

In Newton's first 2 seasons, after a Rookie of the Year Award, and a Pro Bowl appearance, the routine argument was "stats are nice, but he needs to win!".

Now after back to back division championships, and consecutive playoff appearances, the argument is "well how many of those wins were really him anyway? derp!"

This sounds like a shitty argument that a huddler would make, not even sure you should bother giving this person web hits.

You cant really use last year as a positive. Winning that poo of a division meant nothing. We had a losing record for Christs sake. Its like who is the best from a group of retarded stepchildren.

Cam has had one good year. To be fair to him though the D wasnt good some of those years and the past couple of years he has had a lame duck OC.

Back in January 2014 coming off our 12-4 season, Gettleman point blank stated that Cam was a franchise QB.

"He proved it to me," Gettleman said Tuesday in his first public comments to the media since training camp. "He proved it this year. He flat proved it."

For most of his career Cam has been a franchise QB without a franchise to support him. What he's been given in comparison to the QBs he's regularly compared to is criminal. This year may be different, it really all comes down to the performances of Funchess and Oher.

Better QBs have done more with less. In my opinion Newton still isn't an elite QB, but he can be our "franchise" QB since it'd be harder to better.

I wish Newton could just be a normal elite QB instead of this weird unicorn catalyst that has all these conditions that need to be met in order to be competent.

"Better QB's have done more with less" you say?

How many QB's have had their entire WR core gutted in the same year they had offseason ankle surgery, a rib injury, a back injury, and an injury riddled OL?

Perhaps you should weigh all the facts before making such claims?

The past 2 drafts are the first ones that we have actually invested high draft picks in our offense with Newton at the helm.

Did you just say that Cam isn't even a competent QB? Lol

I'm glad the media has no say as to how well he plays or whether or not his teammates like him.  If they did Cam would be a 3rd string QB.  His teammates like him, he is the leader in the huddle, and he produces.  He is not a perriah in the locker room (quite the opposite) and he does a ton of positive stuff in the offeseason for others.  So the media can suck it.
