Drafting PF makes the most sense...

To be honest, I think you're right that there will be at least one worth wing prospect available when we are on the clock. I've recently seen Stanley Johnson fall to #11, Trey Lyles up to #8, and WCS up to #9 in a mock draft (nbadraft.net). For me, if Stanley Johnson is available at #9 then I'd hope that we would draft him because he would be the BPA, same way if someone like Hezonja or Winslow took an unexpected tumble. But outside of them, are wings like Booker, Oubre, and Dekker the BPA at #9 if the top eight is the same as what I posted last time?

I'm not sure. Dekker is a solid all round prospect that is pretty much NBA ready. Whereas Oubre is raw, but has a ton of potential. And Booker is somewhere inbetween. All three fit a need, but an argument could be made that the likes of Trey Lyles, WCS, or even Turner is the next best player available.

I feel that this team is built in a similar fashion to the Grizzlies. We are based on defense, and while extra scoring is required, I wouldn't be surprised if they did draft another big. And to be honest, I wouldn't consider it negative either because someone like WCS could develop into an excellent center. I appreciate we have Biyombo, but his offense is extremely limited averaging a handful of points, whereas I could see WCS developing his shot and play making ability to perhaps get double digit points. I'd probably say if we went for another PF it might be overkill, but Lyles is a decent stretch four prospect that could help us immediately, whereas the jury is still out on Zeller, and Vonleh is still very raw.

Personally I hope that one of Stanley Johnson, Justice Winslow, or Mario Hezonja fall to us at #9. If they aren't available, I'd be happy with us taking a chance on Booker or Oubre. Though I can't help but see how WCS or even Lyle could help us.

Lyles is the player I want the least because I don't see him doing a single thing better than Vonleh.

And what do you see in WCS that you project him developing into a better offensive player than Biz? At this point Biz sets the best screens on the team, rolls strong to the basket, and, although a poor shooter, has decent form on his shot.

Every time I watched WCS, he looked completely lost and uncoordinated on offense. I question the BBIQ. He was more an athlete you told, "See that guy with the ball? Stay in front of him so he can't put the ball in the basket." Not much else.

If we draft him, I hope I'm wrong.

we will trade the pick for a proven player that has reached their ceiling. We are trying to win now.. apparently making the 7th-8th seed is good enough for our FO

Disagree.  WHo comes to mind when you think trade?  Who is a player you could see being moved for the ninth pick that would instantly help us?  If a deal is there we'll take it, but there won't be one there.  This is gonna be a quiet offseason.  Next offseason when the cap rises is when players will be looking to move.

If we stay at 9 SJ is best case scenario.  Hezzy or Winslow ain't falling to 9.  SJ has some Paul Pierce in his game, the way he bulldozes his way into the lane and plays stifling D

Chuck mentioned Johnson in another thread a month or so ago, and I was originally against it, but if he is there I think we have to take him. If he can consistently hit from the NBA three, he can be a player that can help us tremendously.

He would contribute immediately defensively and won't have to develop physically like many wings in this draft.

I still take Hezonja if he is there, but Johnson would be a great consolation prize if he isn't.

I just can't imagine any scenario Hezonja is on the board when we pick unless we move up.  Between Orlando, Denver and Detroit... no way he falls to 9.

I would assume we would move the 9th pick coupled with a player or 2. Namely Marvin or Lance.

Pekovic, Wilson Chandler, Gallinari, JJ Hickson, Faried, Joe Johnson, Thad Young, Loul Deng or even getting McBob back.

These are all players I could see us targeting by dangling the #9 and a player. Denver seems most likely to hold a fire sale- so look out for them

WCS would cement this roster being a dumpster fire. He is a good player but not the guy this team can afford to draft this season. He would be nothing more than a rotation piece behind AL, Zeller, Noah and possibly Biyombo.   It has to be a guy who could compete as a starter.

The LAST thing this team needs is another limited offensive player and throwing out the same freaking pooh lineup of Henderson and Marvin Williams.

Addressing an outside shooter/scorer that is mature and does not get suspended is THE need.

at 9 that looks like Booker or the PG. If we trade up I agree with others it should be Winslow or Hezonja.   This team just needs another alpha-type scorer who actually can.

thing is hopefully we only have one more year of Al, plus Bizz is a free agent.  If we do bring in WCS we can still resign Bizz and go forwards with a collection of bigs of: Cody, Noah, Bizz, WCS.  That's a really nice collection of young bigs who are all versatile and have different strengths.  The only two of those who couldn't play together are Bizz and WCS.

e: also Booker will never be an alpha-type scorer.  couldn't be any farther from it

really?? i would throw Gallo into the ewh category too.. he is always injured.. i dont really like half those guys either but if you look at all those guys- they all would bring something to the table that would help this team out Right Now- esp the shooters.. if we have learned anything from these playoffs, its that you absolutely need 2-3 scorers from the 3pt line now. truly, the only team that didn't score from 3pt land was Memphis. Everyone else had great perimeter scoring. the 4 remaining teams were all in the top 5 in 3pt shooting during the regular season.

I have read on here somewhere like, what does Booker offer that PJ Hairison doesn't offer us?? my point is Who Cares!! just because we have PJ doesnt mean you say "we got ourselves a shooter, now lets move on.." we need multiple threats from beyond the arch. PJ isnt even that clutch either- Yet.. (let's all pump the brakes on annointing him the next Steph Curry). Booker would be nice to have, but so would Wilson Chandler. One of them will help you immediately, one will take a good amount time to develope (esp under coach Clifford).

I'm just telling you, our FO is in Win Now mode. I think #9 is packaged for a player or 2 to get someone who is a known factor
