Our OTs

Recommended Posts

Still a big question mark, but our OT roster is worlds better than it was last year at this time.  Still can't believe we went into last year with Bell and Chandler penciled in as starters.  At least we learned our lesson and made moves to bring in legit OT competition this year.

No matter what, I can't see our OTs this year beingas bad as that Bell/Chandler duo.

No lesson to learn.  Gettlemans purse was empty.  He stuck to the plan to build this team into a contender and for the first time in years, the Panthers will have to let some real talent go this year to get to 53.  I can't wait to see what this team looks like over the next two years.

I'm more excited to see our interior line featuring Norwell and Turner pick up where they left off.  As much crap as we give Bell, he wasn't alone in our offensive line problems.  His deficiencies were even able to be covered up a bit once we got semi capable men in there around him.

I think Martin will be cut and not make the 53.

I don't have much faith in Oher, but as others have said if he can just play average we will be in a better situation.

I wouldn't be too shocked to see some unexpected positional changes if Oher isn't working out, some weirdness playing Norwell or Remmers at LT.

A consistently threatening run game would help keep dlinemen from having their ears pinned back ready to rush the passer.

That franchise tag money spent on Hardy could've been used to address OT.  We had money to spend, we just chose to spend it on Hardy to hopefully have one more year of a dominant DL and pass rush instead of spending it on the OL.

Yeah, that was a gamble tagging Hardy.  I just don't remember a LT available that was as good at his position as Hardy was at his.  Hopefully it won't matter this year because there's some talent to work with this year at OT, and there was very little last year.

Really concerns me that the Panthers didn't bring in a backup for Oher, either through the draft or in FA.  He's the only LT on the roster besides David Foucault (LOL) with any experience at LT.  I'm hoping a veteran LT like Andrew Whitworth is cut in the preseason and the Panthers snap him up.

LOL At Oher and Martin being serviceable. I will believe it when i see it. Those are 2 players that havent given any reason to be optimistic about.

Oher being back with his position coach from Baltimore when he was dominant, and being healthy, is more than enough optimism for me. Especially when the LT on the roster isn't named Bell.

Our offensive line looks better and deeper heading into camp. But there is a myth that Bell was the only problem and a trash can could replace him. Only fools come up with these scapegoats year after year.

Amini was our worst lineman last year. Bell was serviceable once Norwell came in and they became cohesive. Truth is, all the linemen played bad when the entire team was playing bad, including Kalil.

I'm honestly expecting Oher to be a place holder.  If he's more than that, gravy.

Our left tackle of the future wasn't to be had in this draft, but I suspect we got our anchor for the right with the pick of Daryl Williams.

Maybe next draft, we get the left. And given how this past one played out, I won't be surprised at all if we trade up to do so.
