Don't mind him dropping in the rankings because of mediocre numbers (figured that would happen).  Can't blame that on the media, but damn......you can blame them for that terrible 5 minute video, complete with not recognizing him for being #24 last year. 

 

Should be an honor to be voted 1 of the 100 best in your profession, especially when it's by your peers.  They shouldn't be allowed to make a mockery out of the video spot with that stupid little kid intro.  Oh well, as many have said already, time to earn respect this year....wish preseason started this weekend.

Yeah, i understand the drop in the ranking, even players are susceptible to stats geeking and highlight plays outweighing actual consistent play from year to year. And honestly, it took cam until about the last quarter of the season to return to form... understandably, as he was still struggling with his recovery from his ankle injury, he broke his ribs (which didnt ever really heal) his receiving corps outside of Olsen was wildly inconsistent, and it downright sucked after KB and Philly, he played behind the worst OL in the nfl for the first 12 games or so, then he gets in a car crash which very well could've killed or seriously and permanently injured any mortal man...

So, considering all of that lol... in summary, he played with numerous debilitating injuries that most players would t have even played with, had possibly the worst OL in the league, AND arguably the worst overall receiv8ng corps in the entire NFL, and he still carried his team and won when it counted.

I'll take it.

That being said, the NFL Media can go to hell for those continuous potshots. .. it was this crap with the kid, then another year they had champ bailey talking poo about him lol... fan this man live?

Like i said,i know it sucks, but im sure cam has come to understand hes always going to have thise detractors... just keep doing you, cam.

I normally don't care what the national media says, but this one irritates me.

Using that kid's article is a total joke and they should be ashamed. Even when ranking him way lower than he should be they have to get their digs in

 

 

They're not the ones doing the rankings though.  The top 100 is voted on by the players.  That's why there's usually a lot of surprises.

Other than showing the kid's letter at the beginning - which I honestly got the impression they were making fun of - I didn't really see anything that wasn't complimentary.

 

The piece was full of praise for Newton's athleticism, passing...pretty much everything.

They showed the kid's letter at the beginning, and then segued with "although this kid might not like him, his fans and peers certainly do" and the rest was nothing but showering Newton with praise.

 

The goofy music they played while reading the letter also made it clear to me that part was done with an "aaawww, isn't that cute" slant.

Exactly if anyone's seen the show before in entirety every year, the start is always something funky, weird, unusual, or funny. It's entertainment I think this whole board needs to take a chill pill.

I usually don't mind stuff like this BUT the mere fact that Cam is the only that is mocked on The Top 100. I mean, they had Champ Bailey on two years ago talking garbage. Name another player who has a tribute of him that starts with a dig.

 

I've seen plenty of the videos include mentions of negatives.  It's not that unusual.
