Kug is cut

Recommended Posts

My memory may be faulty on this, but I seem to remember that Kugbila (or Amani? or both?) were chosen because Ron Rivera had fallen in love with him/them?

Is my memory incorrect here?

I've heard that too. As I recall it was about Silatolu but I could be wrong.

As I've mentioned before, scouts hate the tendency of coaches to become enamored with a certain player because of their highlight reel.

He has done a great job, I'm not arguing that. But drafting an injured D2 project is careless when we are a team that is determined to build through the draft.

I would think that with all the small school guys who have made huge impacts in the NFL that it would be careless to simply overlook a guy because he hails from a school in Smallville.

Kug apparently just couldn't handle the rigors of the NFL. He was a lemon. But that doesn't mean Gman was careless in his decision to draft him. Sure, we certainly missed out on a better prospect, but poo happens.

I've always believed that the change in scouting services that happened after that first draft and the fact that we've generally trended away from "small school project" types since that change are related and not just coincidental.

Whether that change was already planned by Gettleman or if it occurred as a result of the first draft pool?  Unknown.

I tend to believe it was planned because Gettleman has a history with BLESTO, but ya never know.
