I'm glad he's not starting but it would be silly to cut him just because he isn't 1st string worthy.  He's quality depth.  You need that on an o-line.

Yes it's valuable in that you can take risks at that point. Kug didn't work out because of injuries. There have been small school o-linemen that have had success in the league, so don't act like it was a wasted pick just because of that. It didn't work out but he wasn't a bust. How many drafts have you been involved in that you can say that DG's approach was "careless drafting?" I mean come on man.

Last year's play was not worthy of a roster spot on any team in the league. Maybe he can return to pre-injury form which was fine for a backup but I'm not getting my hopes up. We need that roster spot for other good players.

True. We just landed a starting (we hope) RT in the fourth round.   You just don't hear of them making noise in the NFL.  I just checked about 4 other random NFL rosters--90 player rosters- and I found a few small school OL, but not many.  A few Tulanes and Marshalls, but no Valdosta or Southwest East Missouri Tech State College. 

 

Funny thing about Kugbila, I watched the championship game (vs. a NC school, I think) and he was not good. I have no idea what they saw.

He was injured when we drafted him. Small school guys can make it yes, but it's rare. David Bakhtiari went right after Kugbila to the Packers.
