2011 NFL draft revisited, would you take JJ Watt over Cam?

Recommended Posts

Lol no. Taking Watt in 2011 doesn't guarantee the 1st pick in 2012 so this "we'd have Luck too" business is ridiculous. I wouldn't take that route even if we knew we could get Wilson to be our QB. When you need a QB and a guy like Cam is available you take him. No ifs, ands or buts about it.

Luck may have pulled an Eli Manning and held out another year of we were picking first...that's basically what he did ng staying in college another season.

I don't want anyone who doesn't want to be here. Plus, we had Hardy and CJ.

he said before the 2010 season that it was more than likely that he would stay to finish his engineering degree. it had nothing to do with the panthers

I'm taking Watt, and taking my chances that the other teams a year later are moronic enough to pass on RW. I'll take Watt + RW over Luke and Cam at this point.

Well, we had TD and Beason, so Luke was kind of a luxury pick.

But again, we had CJ and Hardy. If Hardy had kept out of trouble, we wouldn't be having this conversation at all.

Come on Kony, let's see what you've got!

I would take Watt above Luke at this point too.  Watt's the best defensive player in the league.  And RW is on the same level as Cam at this point in many peoples opinion.

Watt is the overall #1 D player right now and Luke is overall #2, but would you take the best DE or the best MLB if you had the choice?

It's similar to the QB situation imo... you take the guy that is the best AND the captain on the field directing the entire D, something Watt doesn't do.

As for the Cam vs Watt question... yeah, Watt is a beast, but I would still take Cam (and that's not even factoring in that we have Luke)...  whoever made the point about Watt having an insane season and Houston still sucking was dead on.

I'm partial to Cam over RW. Just like what he brings and his demeanor is a huge part of how our team plays. Don't really like RW and don't know if he could hold up as well as Cam has, considering out OL.

Plus, look at that Seattle defense...that's their real strength. I'm not even willing to cal RW a franchise QB, just don't think he can carry his team on his back. I feel Lynch is more valuable to them when you boil it down.

If you knew Watt was going to be what he is now but wasn't sure about Cam then I could see it. Knowing Cam would be a franchise QB you have to take Cam. Franchise QBs are rare. I think that factors into BPA. At least when you don't have one already.
