2011 NFL draft revisited, would you take JJ Watt over Cam?

Recommended Posts

Haplo E dude has some serious issues.

I'm not sure which I would take if I had to redo the 11 draft.  A lot would depend on how my QB situation looked.  If it's like ours, yes you probably have to take Cam, if you are like.....say the Falcons, you take Watt.

QB is the one exception to the BPA rule, so no.  We needed a franchise QB and we thought (correctly) that Cam had real potential to be that guy.  You don't pass that up in today's NFL.

Pretty much.

If you went pure BPA, then yes, Watt is gonna be considered by most to be a better overall player than Newton.  Pretty hard to argue that without being a homer.

But when you factor in that Newton is a franchise quarterback, the value shifts dramatically.

Firstly, there are DEs as good or maybe better than Watt in the league. Watt just fit the better profile for marketing. The gap between Watt and Hardy, for example, is not that much.  Watt is a good player on a bad team so he gets to rush every down with no team discipline. The same way Kevin Love(NBA) was a supposed super star in Minnesota(Timberwolves), then once he went to play with Lebron, a real superstar, he can barely keep up. Easy to pile up stats when a team is outta contention week 5. I'd take Justin Houston any day over Watt. And, yes, that's the guy who had the most sack last year. He's just not being hyped since he doesn't have the marketing profile that fits the NFL.

So, to answer your question, hell NO! People lick Watt's balls for the same reason they lick Luck's, Manziel's, The Golden Calf of Bristol's, etc. Just propaganda. Don't try to promote your agenda by disrespecting Cam.

Where have you been when Cam was breaking rushing and passing records! Where have you been when Cam was dragging his team to the playoffs! I guess that doesn't matter because JJWAAATTTTTT

Lastly, the Texans have a sh!tty defense, they've ranked bottom 3rd of the league. And, yes, that's with JJ WAAAATTTTT. How this guy keep getting hyped while he plays for team that keep picking top 5 is beyond me.

His team never win yet JJWAAAATTTTT. That's laughable.

God bless your soul man. With this level of intelligence you are seriously going to need it.

Back to the topic at hand, the what if game seems paralyzing to me. If we took Watt at #1 we still have no 2nd round pick...i dont think hurney would have gone into 2011 with clausen as the starter, but wouldnt have had a selection until the 3rd round so that could be yet another trade of a 2012 first rounder for a kaepernick or dalton. If thats the case i would rather have cam and luke.

You act like that means much. The game is about rushing the passer and defending the pass. Who cares if a MLB tackle a dude 10 yards down the field 5 more time than another. I don't really car about MLB play same as I don't care about the kickers. So, statistically(in tackles) Luke is the best MLB. There is no argument against that.

Do you kow who had the most sacks last year? Everybody should know that guy's name even more than Waaatttt. The hypocrisy here is that most people don't.

I wouldnt bother engaging people here, my man. It used to be a place where you could say speak your mind and get some good discussion but nowadays this place is more about who can deflect and belittle opinions. Let me tell you what I learned here at the Huddle about people in general.

1) People dont like people who are opinionated and speak their opinions strongly. Its ok to make snarky and ignorant casual one liners as long as they are not so serious. You can say as many dumb things you like as like as you say it half jokingly or sarcastically enough.

2) People dont like to be told when they are wrong. They have to "discover it" on their own so that they can feel like they accomplished something when they say it out loud proudly and make that thought their own. You cant really plant a seed so much like in Insurrection, you can only hope that a set events will happen in front of that person so that they will agree.

I will say tho, I like an mlb over a de in Luke's case but only when theres a special player that can out value the de position. I think he's that good. I would love to discuss it more with you but this is no longer the forum for that. This is just a place for people to post video's of chicks doing splits now, lol, good thread tho.

In general you are right about the things you learned from the huddle. Challenge the group think and they literally poo themselves. It's quite funny actually.

It makes this place more like a humor forum than a real sports forum. I mean occasionally Zod will post a good tidbit and he's an honest man, but people here generally breed irrationality and its just not healthy for a sports fan to take seriously. There are a crap load of people trying to look cool on the internet these days. Is Idiocracy really happening before our eyes?

True, but more INTs overall, contributing to Watts inflated numbers.

I can't say I follow this. Watt has 1 career interception and it was against the Bills. What did you mean by that?
