That was a clinic by Smith. 

 

That was also when Delhomme was playing some great QB.  He was mobile in the pocket avoiding rushers.

This game was badass. Also watching this again you can see the parallels from Rivera's defense and what he is trying to build here. The strength of the defense is very strong interior line play to help keep blockers off the linebackers while they do most of the dirty work, with an average secondary that gets torched by Steve Smith. Looking at the roster the following season (which the bears made the Super Bowl) we have better defensive players on paper (imo). Unfortunately the NFC isn't as weak as it was in 2006.

Brad Hoover absolutely kicked Urlacher 's ass on those run plays. On one play he pushed him about 10 yards down field. It would do wonders for our run game if we had another Hoover on this team.
