I never said he wasn't smart in his decisions to go down...he just goes down like a Jenga puzzle when does. 

 

i prefer him going down like he does as opposed to sliding like he's supposed to do. i don't trust defenders to pull up and not go full missle into cam's head. the way he goes down is better in the long run.

Agree. Yes, he needs to learn to slide better. I think he actually does a good job of getting down/out of bounds/avoiding big hits.

I've seen defenders take shots at QBs going into their slide multiple times, mostly at the expense of the QBs head.

 

Cam's "crumple" may not be pretty, but its effective.  It *does* protect his head.

 

He can play with broken ribs.

 

He CAN'T play with a severe concussion.

exactly.

 

some players don't care about penalties or fines. they just care about being the guy that took out someone. cheap shots happen all the time. i'd rather cam's head not be the target.

I prefer the way Cam slides because of with how durable he is (in regards to taking shots) it seems the risk of getting a clear twisted in the ground and messing up his ankle is greater than taking a shot flipping like he does.

And in regards to the ranking, if I'm reading "best QB situations" correctly I think 8 is astronomically high for him. He's got a short bus back seater for an OC, garbage OTs, one good proven (but inconsistent) WR, a rookie who could be decent, a great TE, and a RB corps who are either oft hurt or unproven. Few QBs have worse WR corps than Cam. Few have worse OLs. None have worse OCs. One or two of these three problems would be a tough to overcome. All three? If our offense, and Cam, does well? He's God in a jersey.

Cam is a fantastic athlete and he has been improving overall as a quarterback, but the column was right about things, too. Accuracy is a big issue, but hopefully that will improve as his protection and receivers get better around him.

 

Eighth place right now seems about right.
