What if Byrd shows he can do returns?

He never returned kicks in college. Zero chance we throw a guy straight into the fire like that as a rookie when he has no actual game experience as a returner. Down the line or next year it would be a possibility, but barring a lot of injuries Byrd will not be the week 1 PR.

As opposed to Bersin?

At heart, it's still just catching the ball and running.  The only part he'd have to learn is the decision making aspect.

Bersin got put in there due to injuries and Philly not doing a great job. That also did not work out too well as you might remember which will surely be in the front of the minds of the coaches and front office.

No.  What if he really can do returns?  With his speed?

He didn't have a single career return in college, what makes you think he'll all of a sudden be able to consistently field punts and have the field vision to return them. Ginn is proven.
