Which 3 New Additions Are You Most Excited About?

Of players we drafted, signed as free agents, claimed off waivers, or signed as UDFAs.

I'm extremely excited to see how Oher and Martin can hold up if either gets significant playing time (looks pretty likely Oher will at LT) along with some of these UDFAs like Byrd and all the other new faces on our roster, but there are 3 that I am way more excited to see.

Shaq Thompson: Obviously as our first rounder there are high expectations and high hopes but I think this may be our most exciting first rounder to me since Cam (with all due respect to our monsters in Luke, Star and Benji of course). All the different packages Rivera and McD can work up and all the different usages can bring this D over the top. He's a physical specimen and with LB genius in Rivera coaching him I think he'll have a huge and immediate impact, even though many think this is a "future" pick.

Daryl Williams: This guy is an absolute monster. He makes defensive linemen cower in fear at the mere sight of him. I think he's going to be able to win the RT job over Martin/Remmers and he'll be by far the best RT we've had in years. At the very least he'll be an above average run-mauler with a mean streak--fitting in with the identity of our interior with Norwell, Kalil and Turner--but I feel confident he can hold up in pass protection atleast as well as Remmers did to close out the year. I think he's already our best OT from a run-blocking standpoint and I can't wait to see him out there with Stew running behind this line.

Charles Tillman: I think people underrate this signing significantly. And Igo not having him make the team is a crime... In just 2012 (when he was on the wrong side of 30 like he is now) he was a first-team All-Pro. He is a turnover machine with amazing instincts and knowledge of the opinion. He may have the speed of a 34 year old, but he's not any slower than he was in 2012. He missed a lot of time the last 2 years with triceps injuries, but those are considered by him to be flukes, and really how important are the triceps to a DB? His height at 6'2 and instincts and ability to force turnovers at the position can help turn out secondary into an elite unit by lining up across from Norman with Bene at nickel in certain packages, depending on the other team's personnel. Not to mention his amazing work off the field, familiarity with Rivera and ability to fit right in with our locker room environment. May be the most excited I've been about a signing of ours in a few years.

Of course I'm excited about all of our new guys and it was tough not including Funchess, but I tried my best to choose 3. So, who are yours?

1. Ted Ginn: Not sure why, but people seem to forget how good Ginn was in 2013. With KB and Olsen drawing attention from DBs, I think Ginn will be able to blow by safeties over the top quite often this year. Also excited to see him on KR/PR once again.

2. Daryl Williams: Him, Norwell, and Trai make a mean offensive line. Here's hoping Kalil has a couple more solid season left in him and we have at least an average LT.

3. Cameron Artis-Payne: Love JStew, but I am not remotely convinced he can stay healthy for a full season. CAP will be a solid runner, a massive improvement over Williams in the rush and blocking game. Also believe he will factor in the pass game a little out of the backfield.

Can't believe Funchess wasn't stated until the 5th post.

On that Note I'll say

Funchess- If Carolina can finally have that 1&2 tandem that we haven't had in almost a decade we can be a problem with Cam at QB.

Oher-Not necessarily excited, but want to see if he can help solidify the line.

I'll just say ST as a whole, we mad a lot of key additions and if we can start winning the battles there it may go a long way towards us winning more games.

Shaq - His swagger and playmaking ability bring a whole new aspect to the D that we severely lacked last year. Reminds me of Mike Mitchell, except he plays smart.

Funchess - What a freak of nature, he can turn out to be better than Kelvin, and that idea is insane.

Oher - He isn't Byron Bell, a Canadian UDFA, or a player who played on the defensive line the year before. +1
