Mad Men

The whole last season was kinda meh to me...but mostly because I hated the way they split it into two mini-seasons I think. Lost some continuity. Overall though, sad to see it go because it was consistetly good to great and at times amazing.

Liked the finale, too. Not at all what I was expecting, but pretty happy with it. Just wish Roger and Don weren't going away from my TV life.

Theres a lot of debate of what Don's fate even was in the finale..I personally prefer to think he got his stuff together

Really? I guess I haven't read enough. Basically everyone I've talked to/read from has gone with the..."Don gets it together, finding peace at the hippie commune, comes back and pitches Coke" ending.

Thats my thinking also but there have been others that think the entire ending was just more about how life goes on and Don didn't find any kind of peace he just came up with idea for coke. Essentially staying the same person he's always been

Yeah, Don gets his life together, goes back to NY, and pitches this idea to Coke. Then he makes like $10 million farewell the end.

Stan said "he always does this, and he always comes back."

To which Peggy replied "you're always right."

Damn. I need some more time to let everything sink in, as this show was very important to me since about 2009...but Weiner knocked the finale out of the park.

"Do you have any liquor? I've been drinking beer all night."

Yeah Don creates that commercial.  The girl in the commerical with the pig-tails looks almost exactly like the receptionist at the commun.  His smile was when he felt at peace/had the idea.

Don went through like 3 different things this season.  One was humility, when he was used and left like he's done to so many others by that waitress.  Second, was admitting who he is and that happened with the VFW guys during those scenes, not to mention scenes like Betty telling him he's never around for the kids anyway, and he didn't argue.   Third was acceptance of who he is, which is an ad-man, and that happened right at the end.

I do hope he finds someone and has a normal relationship with them but maybe he won't.  Like Ted said, you have three women in your life, and for Don it was Betty,Sally, and Peggy, so I'm not sure they'll be anymore that are as important as those.

I thought it was a good send-off.  I liked how Pete actually redeemed himself, he's been a rollercoaster of a character since the beginning and perhaps the BEST character when you get down to it.  Hilarious, annoying, and sometimes you even support him.   This is one of the best shows ever because no one was perfect, they all had their flaws, and in the end you cared about almost all of them despite that, it was a real human show.
