Proof that Sport Illustrated "predictions" are BS

Last season new guys, including quite a few band-aids, had to be plugged in at WR, DB, and the OL. Our best DE played one game and then starred all season in the negative publicity dept. Our QB had to deal with multiple injuries and until Stewart got healthy our RB's were a guy nobody wanted and a FB who wasn't really healthy either. No there was no winning record, but they still managed to easily win playoff game #1. This off season we came out with a + in FA instead of a minus, without breaking the bank. I've got a feeling that the draft picks will work out better than whoever the talking heads think we should have taken, and also feel like the team will be starting out from a hill instead of a hole. Will one or more of the other division teams improve more than we will over last season? Maybe. But they've got more ground to make up. Finish last? Maybe. The other teams could all click and we could have a raft of injuries, but to me, the Panthers are the safe pick to win the division.

I guess you can't use 'sh%tty' in a S.I story so be clever by inserting something close. Truth is for a stretch last year they were 'sh%tty'. That was last year and that is history. They have improved the roster and will be a better squad In 2015.

No one should care about these predictions....they usually end up way off base.

Lazy ass journalism. A more accurate analysis would have read something like this.

After a bad start to the 2014 season, the Panthers showed amazing resilience. They finished the season strong to take their 2nd straight divsion title.

It will be interesting to see how good they can be this year with a fully healthy Cam Newton. Cam will have time this offseason to gell with his old & new receivers, and he has the luxury of operating behind a much improved O line. No off fieild distractions, and the emegence of several rookies last season, coupled with the only elite defense in the division, should make the Panthers the class of the NFCS once again.

I wouldn't call that accurate but more "glass half full"

Depending on how Winston does, I think the NFC South will come down to the Panthers and the Bucs.

I think Winston will have success in the nfl if he can stop doing dumb shot off the field. But, with his history of suspect decision making against mediocre college teams (18 int last season against shitty acc competition), I think he will be an absolute turnover machine his rookie season.

Bucs will still finish 4th next season.

All except the ones that pick us to win the Super Bowl.

Those are logical, reasonable and well thought out.

At least you can admit it.

When are these other hacks gonna wise up?

Side-bar:  I remember the 04 SI issue that had Jake on the cover and us slated to meet Miami in the Bowl.  I thought, well there goes this season.
