Bout to see the new mad max movie

So for those that have watched it, I want to see it this week and trying to decide when and where. Convenience would allow me to see Mad Max in a normal theater setting at anytime this week. . 3D times around my house are inconvenient but I could wait and see a couple weekends from now if 3D is worth it. Or, should I drive 35-40 miles to the closest Imax and shell out the time, money and crowds at Concord Mills during race week to get the full experience?

I'm not huge on 3D but I'm not against either. But there is something very important that I experienced for the very first time while watching this movie...D-Box.

Never heard of it? I hadn't either. Go to d-box.com if you want to read whatever it is the company says about itself. It's basically a seat in the theater (there were 2 rows of them in my theater) that has vibration and movement like a ride at Disneyland timed to and in synch with the movie. It. Is. Amazing.

Likely wouldn't work for lots of different movies but for Fury Road...off the charts. It adds a 4th dimension that takes it to another level. I loved the movie. Very entertaining. A few plot holes but I wasn't going in thinking Academy Award so no harm no foul. But that damn D-Box increased the fun.

I think it's only available in 3D movies. There's also XD and I'm not sure what that is yet but I will try it out too. If you have a chance to watch this movie in a D-Box seat. Do. It.

And that makes a movie good? Still need a story, all the stunts and/or cgi doesn't make a good movie.

Depends on what you mean by "good." It's not an Oscar contender, but I've not walked out of a theater in recent memory so sure that what I had just seen was worth my money. To me, that's why it's got a 99% approval rating, because damn if it's not entertaining from beginning to end. And it's a visual spectacle without the miasma of stupification that affects, say, a Michael Bay film. It's an action flick that doesn't have to be a "guilty pleasure."

As usual we have some people thinking they are hip by hating it, lol.

It's not a movie where you have to think, it's for pure entertainment purposes.

I have a deep appreciation for film, all kinds, but pure adrenaline pumping bad assery like this movie is worth my money every time.

Right? Its ok to hate it but this film is going to have a cult following just like the originals for the next two or three generations of teenagers that watch it. You can hate the original Star Wars but it doesn't stop the world from loving the franchise.

Saw it today. Of course it's badass. See it in 3D. The depth alone makes the 3D worth it.

Not sure what others were watching if they didn't see a story. Just because the character's back stories are not spoon fed you doesn't mean there isn't a story. I thought the characters were some of the best I've seen in a while. The Warboy turned Hero. The Mothers. Immortal Joe. Furioso. The freaking GUITAR PLAYER!

I felt here was so much I missed. So much detail in the sets, costumes and vehicles. I'm looking forward to pausing the BluRay and dissecting it more. I swear at one point when they showed the War Pups, engraved into the walls were what looked like children's skulls. What the hell was that about? What horrors had those kids been put through?

Those little details throughout the film will be why this movie will be studied in film classes decades from now.

Yes I am hating it to be hip. lol

Just didn't do it for me, but I guess I should fall into goosestepping to be hip.

You see, if you disagree with TheRed on anything you are probably only doing it for internet points. And there is no way you shouldn't think like him.

It was a heck of an action flick, but really, when it gets three quarters of the way through, I really felt they copped out with a turn around and go back story line. Would have been better to go on and defend a settlement of the Vulvalinis from the Immortal Joe onslaught.

In the end, though, it wasn't up to the level of The Road Warrior. It's better than Beyond Thunderdome and Mad Max, but it just doesn't hold together as well as The Road Warrior. And sadly, Tom Hardy just doesn't measure up to Mel Gibson. There's something about Hardy that just isn't intimidating... he should be considering his size and demeanor, but he just doesn't have that aura about him... didn't work well as Bane either, imo. Mel, on the other hand, has the ability to flip that switch and let a bit of madness out through his eyes.

7 out of 10. Will definitely watch again when it comes out for dvd.
