got snipped today

I was running again in a week, and you're well on your way if you were diligent with the ice. Also a faster recovery if they poked holes instead of incisions and stitches.

one stitch in each side so incision was pretty small.

i didn't use the ice packs much today, but friday and saturday it was pretty constant. i went for a couple non-strenuous walks today so hopefully i don't regret it later. everything i do has me worried. i took a shower and accidentally walked up a few steps. both those things stressed me out. it probably didn't need to, but for the next couple days i'm pretty paranoid. i should be good to go back to work tuesday night, but for now i'm fine just taking it easy.

I was considering a vasectomy until a coworker shared the details of his own.

First, he said some hairy Chewbacca-looking guy showed up to give his balls a shave. My coworker argued that his balls are already shaved, but Chewbacca told him that the shave needs to be a sterile shave.

Ok, I thought, awkward, but I could go through with it.

Then he told me about the local numbing: needle injection right into the ball sack. I'm getting lightheaded just typing it. When he told me those details, I decided right then and there that it ain't happening. Needles don't bother me, but needles anywhere close to the boys will cause a violent fit of self-preservation.

10 seconds of needle discomfort and a lifetime of worry-free sex vs. more children...

the procedure really isn't that big of a deal. it didn't take long. these past couple days of recovery hasn't been easy, but it's bearable and you've got a good excuse to sit around and do nothing and you get tons of sympathy for it, esp. from the wife who is very grateful and eager to show her appreciation not just in taking care of me, but in really taking care of me once i recuperate which will probably be this weekend.

i don't have to worry about having more kids. i don't have to worry about my wife taking birth control that could end up causing cancer or some other bad side effect after years of usage.

considering the long term effects, the 10 seconds of needle discomfort is absolutely worth it.

You'll have more sex in the next month, prescribed to get rid of all swimmers, than in the last 6 months combined.

You will look like you had a car wreck down there however, but it gets better soon.
