Balls + Heater = Low hanging fruit

Every time I see this I wonder what it is exactly that people don't get. Both teams did it. Both teams warned during the game. Both teams stopped. No cover up. No desire to flout the rules.

If teams need to be punished fine. But to connect the two as pretty much the same thing is irresponsible in my mind. Trying to be objective and not a homer.

Also...picture is accurate. Twigs and berries are in danger. Do something before it's too late. Think of the children!

Honestly surprised both teams didn't get the $25,000 fine and something like a 1 game punishment for the offending equipment guys or whoever. Not that it really matters, but objectively there should have been some minor punishment.

And I'm totally fine with that. I think that the NFL didn't look at it as a serious offense and sent out letters to all teams to not do it. Like the NFL thought of the incident as a chance to remind teams not to do this thing. But had they been fined the $25K, ok great. Moving on. But I've seen several times in the media where they are trying to make this correlation that the Panthers and the Vikings did "pretty much the same thing". And that's either disingenuous or just plain lazy....probably both.

I guess when it rains you shouldn't be allowed to wipe the ball off either. Or the kickers shouldn't be allowed to squish the ball real hard before the put it on the tee. Fug the Patriots. What a joke!!

Honestly, if each team's offense is allowed to control their own balls then they should be able to have them however they want. I'm not convinced there should even be rules dictating the inflation pressure of the footballs. If it goes back to league controlled then yes, there needs to be a standard that is equal for both teams. But as long as each team controls their own, why is it important how they like their balls? If they want to play with it completely deflated...go ahead. Yes you'll never fumble...and you'll never complete a forward pass.

In the end, it is a very small issue. The lying and the cover up and the deliberate changing of ball pressure after inspections...yeah that's a big deal. But the actual deflation? Nope. They should be able to have the balls just how they like them.

Puns everywhere in there and I'm too lazy to make them actually funny.

There needs to be an official Ball Czar, who can ensure the propriety of the balls used.

She/He could have this on their business card

The Official Seal of The Office of The Ball Czar

No way can one man handle such a big job.  The NFL needs a department of ball support

You're right, there's way too many balls in the nfl for just one person to be the czar of.  there shall be many ball czars, as many ball czars that there needs to be in order to ensure all balls are handled properly during games.

PFT reported that only the Panthers were warming balls during the game, though both teams received the warning.

Both teams definitely were. When Blandino went over it in his weekly rules thing on NFL network the following week, the clip clearly showed the balls being warmed on the Vikings sideline.
