The sad part is, he was a pretty decent QB who took the franchise further than they had ever been. His don't give a fug attitude just rubbed most people the wrong way. He'd throw a pick and go back to the bench laughing.

From what I remember in the last game of 2002, which we won and knocked the aints out of the playoffs, fans were chanting to put Jake in. That never happened and the rest is history.

I don't remember that game specifically, but I remember down the stretch EVERYONE wanted Jake in, brooks was injured and stinking up the joint, but they kept him in with Jake on the bench because brooks was the one being "paid" to be the starter. The saints fuged over a talented qb to keep their golden boy in, I was 18 and swore I'd follow whatever team gave Jake a chance, now I'm here, like actually living here 12 years later.

Talentless? No. Brainless? Possibly. Brooks had a ton of potential and could have been as good as he wanted to be. Problem is, he didn't want to be great. He had a horrible work ethic and hardly studied at all. While I hate him for that, he also did things for the franchise no QB had done before. I respect him for that.

Also, Benson had nothing to do with it. Brooks was Hasletts guy. He loved him.
