Putting my dog to sleep today

Very sorry to hear. I've had to do it several times and it's a tough thing to deal with. But they don't deserve to suffer after all the years of loyal companionship

Sounds like you provided her with a great life. She's was lucky to have you and you her.

Just put my 16 year old lab down a couple months ago. I had that dog since I was 13. She was so well behaved and had a great life. I fed her treats with her head in my lap as it was happening. She looked up at me at the last moment and I could tell she knew what was happening and she nudged me with her nose and nestled her head further into my lap, closed her eyes and left. I got a urn of her ashes and keep them on my kitchen mantle. Every week I bring her fresh flowers. It still hurts a lot, and I wish she was still here.

I contemplated not being there and it was really hard for me but she deserved it, she was by my side from 13 to 30 and I owed it to her to be with her when she left.

I don't think I'll be ready for a new dog for a while, but you have to do the right thing when the time is right. Hopefully one day we will allow humans the same compassion without forced morals and judgment. Life is very fragile and it's moments like this with our loved four legged friends that we realize time is a very real thing and catches up to everyone.

Sorry for your loss and while it may get better with time, this loss will always be a part of you as will all that you gained from your best friend's companionship.

So sorry. Two years ago during Christmas time my dog became an absolute wreck. We fought so hard to keep her alive but when it's time it's time. We planned on having her put down the day after Christmas... But she didn't make it she died about hour before Christmas Day in my arms. It just ate me alive for all of December and some January. It's a very hard thing to go through..... Hang in there boss better days are ahead

As a dog owner for 40+ years..... who always has 2-3 dogs at a time, I've said farewell to some awesome pets.

Absolutely nothing anyone can say will make it better.  But the sad fact is,  dogs don't live as long as people.

If we can all say "we were loved" at the end, I call that a successful life.  Be it dog or man.

Sorry to hear that man. We had to put one of our cats down last Friday. It hurt especially because she was a major part in my wife & I getting together. Its never easy, but always remember you're doing what's best for them.

    • all of a sudden we have a crowded WR room but I'm pulling for him.  Good kid, went to Socastee High, near Myrtle Beach, then to Clemson and I think really surprised everyone that he got drafted and did well. Fun player to watch too.  Hope he makes it.  I expect Thielen to retire after this season, Hunter could be a good replacement.
    • Everyone wants to know what happened to Hunter Renfrow. He went from the Pro Bowl in 2021 to an afterthought in 2022 and 2023 to out of the league in 2024.  Renfrow ow is attempting a comeback with the Panthers. “It’s just trying to get back, trying to get healthy, trying to do something I love,” Renfrow told Darin Gantt of the team website when asked about a year out of the game. “I enjoyed other parts of life. We had our second daughter, so enjoying that and just wanting to make sure if I’m going to come back and give my time and attention to something that I was going to be all in on it.” Renfrow, 29, revealed that he has dealt with a diagnosis of ulcerative colitis, which left him with weight loss, fatigue and high fever. It’s a reason he did not play last season. Instead, Renfrow spent a year consulting with doctors and getting the condition under control. “It kicked my butt pretty good,” Renfrow said. “Last year, I fluctuated in weight. I went down to 150 pounds. I had like seven straight days of 103-degree fevers. It’s tough to play when you’re not feeling great.” He now weighs 187 with a goal of a playing weight of 185. “It’s a weird feeling. It makes you grateful for the times that you do feel good,” Renfrow said. “It makes you grateful for the opportunities that you’ve had, and when you feel like you’ve been blessed with some skill to go out there and perform, it makes you not want to waste the opportunity that you have. And that was one of the reasons why I wanted to come back and play.” In five seasons, Renfrow has 269 receptions for 2,884 yards and 17 touchdowns. https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/hunter-renfrow-a-health-challenge-led-to-time-away-from-football
