In twenty years whats the worst loss to date?

I saw a topic similar to this discussing the best win to date. Figured why not ask what was your worst loss as a Panthers fan (excluding the Super Bowl loss)?

Mine hands down was during the 2004 season when we started 1-7, and we put together a fantastic run only to be deflated in week 15 by Vicks hydroplane dive into the end-zone...

No doubt The loss to Arz in the playoffs.

That window got slammed shut right on our necks. We just recently recovered

I want you to smack yourself in the face and think about what you said. Then come back and give the correct answer.

the Arizona game is more recent, it was just terrible all the way around, it got bad then got worse, then got worse than that...turnover after turnover after jake passing attempt...

The Super Bowl sucked, but at least we looked like a team in that game, had a shot and the kick off killed us, but at least we had a team play a good game, not the epic meltdown in the Arizona game...

the loss to Seattle in 2005 sucked too, limped into that game and got blownout after smitty's magical season

In terms of a single game, it's SB 38. But we were back in the NFCCG in 2005 and if not for a slew of injuries who knows what happens?

In terms of an era, it is most definitely the Arizona loss. A loss like that had been brewing all season with Jake having some poor performances, but for that game to play out the way it did, the reset button should have been pushed right then and there.

Instead, Hurney doubled down and tried to hang on to that flawed team for years, resulting in lame duck seasons and cap hell that we still have yet to fully get out from under.

Super Bowl 38 was awful, but 2008 against Arizona ended our most successful era to that point, and in stunning, unexpected fashion.

well, as the win, I'll go with worse loss for me (that I attended live) and that would have to be probably the SF playoff game. I expected to see a better game that night, and man, when it all came down to it, I'm still pissed about that game.

(I remember the AZ playoff game too, but well, the SF one felt worse to me)

Good reasons, but with the amount of times 38 gets shown on NFL Network it beats out 2008 for me. At least I don't have to re-open the wound as often vs Arizona.

    • stats sort of tell partial truths though.  I mean, two RBs could average 5 yards a carry.  That alone doesn't mean they have run similar.   Those 3 offenses are vastly different on the year and what they ask of the QB.
    • I have never seen so many people who know absolutely nothing about football and high level QB play speak with such assured confidence while spewing absolute nonsense. I'm thankful as a PSL owner most fans who actually care enough to show up to BOA aren't that stupid (probably couldn't afford tickets otherwise) along with actual football people.  I try to think the best of people, but some of these threads have the intellectual discourse level of baboons flinging feces... Bryce is playing franchise QB level ball, and has been for weeks against playoff teams. Most of these haters are incels who will never admit being wrong about anything. If I never got laid I might harbor irrational hatred towards others also. But Jesus Christ what a miserable effing way to live... and we as a society have legitimized these people and encouraged them to be the loudest and dumbest versions of themselves... I'm thankful some of the people on this board still have triple digit IQs this holiday season
    • There was once a guy who stocked shelves at a grocery store who turned out pretty good.  Not saying he's destined for the hof but football players can come from anywhere
