Never heard a UNC say they hate Duke cuz they have a bunch of Yankees. Just been a bitter rivalry for many years.

Oh no, I completely agree. I hate both Carolina AND Duke. Lots of assholes at both schools.

NC State is where you'll find friendlier, more down to earth/normal people.

LOL, the "school spirit" at UNCC is non-existent. Pretty sad really, I hope football changes that.

For the record, I'll be rooting for State tonight. They're my guys. I went to UNCC, but my brother goes to State and I know a ton of people that go there or went there.

I really do think/hope football helps with school spirit. It's going to take some time though. Charlotte is one of the fastest-growing schools in the nation, and it's cool knowing I attended a school that 15 years down the road will probably be seen in a much higher light academically than it is now.

Haven't been to state to compare, but I've met a lot of really nice and down to earth people here so far. Yeah, there are elitist pricks and hippies, but there are an equal number of regular folks too.

I find it incredible how many redneck North Carolinians are obsessed with Carolina and root for them so hard against the "Yankee" school that is supposedly Duke. They don't realize that there are just as many "Yankees" that go to Carolina as Duke. And they generally despise those rednecks.

Umm no. I went to NC State, grew up in Raleigh and I am certainly not a "redneck", and neither are most of my friends from State. You're basing that purely off stupid stereotypes that no longer fit the vast majority of students who go there. The mix of people that attend all three schools is generally the same. I know a lot of people, family and friends, who attend or have attended Duke State and Carolina. The rivalry between the three creates infighting and stirs all these stupid stereotypes up but most of them are bullshit.

State has actually been quietly getting much better academically over the past few years too. I remember 5-6 years ago they were a 2nd tier school, now US News has them at 88.

Ganted I am far from a "good ole boy" but, I was actually a fan of UNC (due to idolizing Jordan growing up) when I first moved down here. Then I went to a UNC game and couldn't stomach the f*cktards that went to the school and the atmosphere. Hated them ever since.
