MKG repping the Hornets at the Draft Lottery on 5/19

MKG will be in New York with Cho at the Draft to rep our team!

Forward Michael Kidd-Gilchrist will represent the Hornets at the NBA’s annual Draft Lottery next Tuesday, May 19, in New York.

“I’m excited to attend the lottery on behalf of our team,” Kidd-Gilchrist said.  “I look forward to being in New York and hopefully bringing us some luck.”

Hopefully this ends the "MKG on his way out" ideas.

do you have any fuging idea how the nba draft lottery works?  lowest we could possibly fall is 12th and the chances of that are about .0000000000001

First of all, I was being sarcastic.

Second of all, no one who suggests the Hornets should trade Kemba for a second-round draft pick has ANY right to question anything basketball-related that someone else says.

Well that was one of the worst attempts at sarcasm I have ever witnessed....it didn't even... it didn't even make any type of sense.

Yeah because trading a ball dominant guard who has only had one season of shooting 40% that we've also committed to paying about $50 million for over the next 4 years would be a terrible idea.  I know he was hurt last season down the stretch but Kemba has a lot to do before you can convince me he can be the starting PG on a team that's gonna go deep into the playoffs.  Plus above average PG's are easy to find nowadays, Kemba's production could EASILY temporarily be replaced while we look for a true floor general.

Look, I hope I'm wrong.  I hope Kemba shoots 43% next year while going for 19 PPG.  But I don't see it happening, I just don't.  I simply don't think he's worth anything near what we're about to pay him.  I love the guy, probably the best PG we've ever had but he's not worth big time money.

What you don't seem to understand, though, is that Kemba's not getting paid big-time money. The salary cap is increasing and his contract goes along with that.

It's fun to hope that everyone but MKG gets traded every season – actually it's not fun, it's incredibly stupid – and yet I guess everyone on here but me feels compelled to do it.

The offseason is about speculating "fun" scenarios. The NBA is structured in such a way that there can be a ton of turnover in rosters from year to year. At 33-49, with little to no star power, no one player should be off limits in terms of discussing where they fit in the future of the team.

Kemba was terrible after coming back from his injury. It may have been because he was never 100%, but he was not good. Just as you can say he was poised for a breakout season, I can say that opening stretch could have been an anomaly, especially when Mo Williams comes in and does the exact same thing the moment he joins the team.

Point guard is becoming the running back of the NBA, a dime a dozen. Is Kemba really a starting point guard on a contender or would he be better suited to be a Lou Williams-esque sixth man?
