I honestly don't get the love for Frank Alexander. 20 tackles and 3.5 sacks in 3 years.

Sure he was suspended, but that's just another ding against him. I'm rooting for him because he is a Panther, but I just don't see the infatuation.

Not much to love or be infatuated with. I'd call it hope.

The one time I saw Missouri in person, with Ealy and Sam playing DE on the Mizzou defense, Ealy was a monster and a playmaker and Sam was getting pushed backward 5 yards every play.

Sam FEASTED on the bad teams Mizzou played and disappeared against the good ones. Besides the ability to accurately throw the ball, the MOST valued ability in the NFL is the ability to rush the passer. If Sam could do that, he'd have a job, gay or not.

Sam is definitely better than a lot of backup pass rushers in the NFL. He was pretty damn good in the preseason last year, but he needs to be starter material to get a chance after coming out. I liken it to T*bow who is good enough to be a backup QB somewhere but is not worth the distraction if he isn't your starter and a star.

Yes, Sam was "pretty damn good" in the 4th preseason game playing against OL who were either cut or assigned to a practice squad.

He was solid all preseason and as I said would be a decent backup on some team but that's not worth the distraction. I don't think he would start anywhere but he is good enough to make the 53 on several teams.

The CowGirls have been starving for an edge rusher since Demarcus Ware left them. Jerry Jones would put a 3-legged goat out there if it could rush the passer and was allowed by the league.

Jerry Jones CUT Michael Sam. Thats all that needs to be said.

I don't understand which football attribute you think NFL GM's find most attractive about Michael Sam, his lack of strength at the point of attack or his ploddingly-slow footspeed.

Your last sentence also described what people said about another player when he entered the league...Elvis Dumervil. He did not run well, was a tweener, and was out of shape in the senior bowl and at the combine...but the dude just a football player. In contrast to Sam however, he does not define himself based upon his sex life.

Sam is a gamer. He actually played well consistently, excluding the Auburn game where they ran for as many yards as Ty Detmer threw his Heisman season...hardly just his fault in that one though.

His big mistake was making a circus of his sex life. I just do not get it. Be homosexual if you want, fine, but why make a media spectacle out of it? I do not understand why people cannot just keep their personal lives personal.

If he did not make a scene, he would have gone anywhere between rounds 2-4 and would be in a rotation.

The fact that this is slowly becoming a Sam thread further shows why teams are avoiding him now. Distraction.

It is a shame too, because the motor he had on the field at Mizzou was rare.

I strongly disagree. The media and public made a spectacle of his sex life.

And I disagree with this.

The dude went on dancing with the stars for pete sake.

Not that I'm necessarily agreeing or disagreeing with the initial argument here, but Dancing with the Stars has cast a football player just about every season.  Also, he was already out of the league when he signed up for it.  If anything, it was a better move for him than most players because he could probably use the income.
