Book vs. Movie/TV

So I just watched "Edge of Tomorrow", and the movie is based on a japanese light novel/manga called "All you need is Kill".

outside of the power suits not being as cool, the movie beats the books it's based on hands down, better plot development, better character development and a better ending.

So any shows/movies you feel did a better job then the books?  Reason being I usually like the books better.

Another series that was better in the movies then the books is the bourne series.  the bourne identity was a good book, the supremacy, was ok and the ultimatum was garbage. while all the movies were awesome.

No Country For Old Men. McCarthy made that book hard for me to read, but also saw the move first.

On the other hand, loved the book The Road by McCarthy, which had a subpar movie.

Choke is possibly my all time favorite book, but the movie super sucked.

LOTR. The books are too long and filled with singing.

Totally agreed there.  Have you ever tried to read his other book semi-connected with LOTR? The Silmarillion.  My god talk about wanting to pull the eyes out of your head.  Dude was seriously high when he wrote that.

I liked the movie for The Road. It was supposed to be incredibly bleak. Book was still better IMO, but it usually is.
