Funchess the next Moose?

Devin doesn't really compare to Moose IMO. He is totally different than KB also. Moose is more similar to KB, without the size. All you have to do is watch the tape. KB is just big, massive, and physical. He doesn't really beat anyone with speed or technique, he just out muscles and overpowers DBs. He understands his physical attributes and uses them to his advantage. He is kinda like a big puppy that hasn't grown into his body yet. He is a bit clumsy and awkward at times but just out muscles the defender. Jump balls are his.

Devin is a lot more fluid and smooth in his routes and cuts. He plays like a regular sized guy that just happens to be big. He is not overly physical. You just assume that a guy that big would be more physical, but he is not. I wouldn't call him soft, but he looks kinda soft at times. He doesn't use his size to overpower people the way KB does. He doesn't get the YAC that KB does.

Devin on the field reminds me of TO more than anybody. He is obviously smarter and has a better personality than TO, but they play similar. I understand how people can think that Devin could end up as our #1, and I agree. You can coach up his route running, blocking, and physical nature. KB will not get much faster, smoother, or develop fluid hips, but he will continue to be a matchup nightmare for 95% of the corners he will face. Both of these guys will compliment each other very well, hopefully for a long time.

I ask all of you to name 3 defenses that have the corners to lock up and shut down both of these guys at 6'5" 230+. That is with Greg the third leg and our running game to deal with. Add in the potential blocking ability of both of these guys, and things look good. I feel like we are in better shape than Chicago was with Marshall and Jeffery, with a better QB. Plus, I got a feeling the Panthers are gonna run the ball more than most of us expect. With the o-line set up for the run, Stewart healthy, Tolbert, Fozzy, the new guys, and Cam, most teams aren't gonna have enough quality run stoppers to deal with us for a full 60 minutes.

Exactly, and while i think Funchess will be good i think he is kinda being overhyped so far off potential. We saw a lot more from Benjamin in college and people were on the fence when we drafted him but funchess has got crazy hype. Hope we do see it but i just want to see him play first.

I assume it's more about the situation he is coming into with healthy Cam, #1 WR , and a top 5 TE to flourish under vs KB situation.

That doesmt mean he was a DB stomper. How many YAC? Moose had a couple good seasons, but 1 or 2 seasons doesnt make him some great WR.

And thie drops...oh we mayne

That's a really dumb statement.  Moose is top 30 (#27 to be exact) in all time receiving leaders in the history of the NFL.  You don't get that being some mediocre WR with "1 or 2" good seasons.

Moose WAS a great WR, and by numbers is a top 30 WR of all time.

That's not even counting the absurdly bad QB situation he had throughout his career.  He probably had it even worse than Smitty in that regard.

Randy was lazy, and he still produced

Amari Cooper just had a all time great seasons with a QB who didn't even get drafted.

You might want to check Randy's Oakland stats before you keep posting this drivel..

And Sims is still a better QB than Gardner..

He had 1000 yards his first season....

And Sims isn't anything special, Amari is just that good. Even Michigan fans felt like Funchess underperformed

Is Kerry Collin suppose to be a good QB? Moss also had 1000 yards with Brad Johnson and Matt Cassell, that's what good receivers do.

In 2006 Moss quit, he didn't;t even play  the full season.

And literally more than half of Sims stats came from Amari, that's just proves my point even more. Funchess had one great game against a FCS school

Kerry Collins has a superbowl and 3 championship games in his career.

Yes i would say Kerry had a good career

Moss couldn't make a bad QB look better sorry..

Funch had almost half of Gardner stats and he was literally hurt the 2nd game of the season.. And played on it the rest of the year..

"I tore a ligament, cracked some bones off and ripped some cartilage," Funchess said of the injury that occurred in the second game of the season, at Notre Dame.

He went down in the fourth quarter of that game and though he returned, he missed the next week against Miami (Ohio) with what was described as an ankle injury, one he said at the time would affect him all season.

The issues weren't diagnosed until he was training at IMG Academy in Florida early this season.

He only got one shot in the toe and after sitting out against Miami (Ohio) – "it wasn't what I wanted to see" – he returned to the field in the fourth game, against Utah, never topping 100 yards again until the season finale against Ohio State.

It's a continuous challenge for him, saying there's "pain right now, just walking on it, but it's a mindset, just not thinking about it."

He admitted he's not 100% but knows how to play with the discomfort and has gotten over focusing on it.

Do you still want to chase this rabbit down the hole??

Has a SB? LOL He went to one and got embarrassed. Going to a championship game and or a SB makes you a good QB now? So Cassel and Johnson are also good QB's?

good lord your reaching

And he almost had half, while Amari had more than half, FYI everyone plays with injuries

What exactly are trying to prove? Funchess wasn't a good college receiver bad QB or not. Last season Gallon had over 1000 yards with the same QB
