Mine wouldn't go in the water, he hates water 20140622_203407_zps1ftyhtut.jpg

That guy is almost exactly what I want my next bully to look like. I want a brown body with some white on his face.

My current guy has a slightly longer snout and less underbite than most bullies, so he doesnt have that classic bully look, but breaths a bit better than most.

He is also a big sensitive wimp who constantly gets bullied by the much smaller french bulldog we also have. They play wrestle all the time and the little frenchy kicks his butt usually (it helps that the big guy is lazy and usually has no interest in playing but the little guy jumps on him and nips his legs until he repsonds)

I have dog health insurance on both my dogs $96 a month for both. I spent around $1,500 this year alone in vet bills

My guy hasn't been that bad, EXCEPT he has Addison's Disease. Basically how I understand it his body does not produce the hormone needed to deal with stress, so he has to get it injected monthly and given pills everyday to manufacture the hormone. If not if he gets too stressed his body will shutdown.

So that alone has makes him expensive, but he has stayed very healthy otherwise (knock on wood) and is turning 7 in July.

Oh, don't kid yourself, mine hated water, but loved boat rides.

Being a bulldog, standing on the very tip of the bow, rolling waves/wakes, and a carefree attitude, lead to me being in the water and getting scratched all to hell.

I've been messing with beagles for over 13 years have bred and raised several litters have had some get sick that needed vet care. Have had to have teeth pulled , a hernia fixed (twice). And I ain't spent that much. Not counting the $96 a month your spending.

That being said people that have bulldogs swear by them and love em. More power to ya.

It's not that uncommon for bulldogs.

Also think about where people live, and how much more a vet is there than where you may live.

There is no telling how much I paid in vet bills during my boy's life.  Probably around 10k.

I understand I didn't mean to come off in a critical way. Had a neighbor who bred & raised them years ago when I was a kid. He had a real setup. Heated building for them in the winter air conditioned in the summer.

And I bet his vet bills were astronomical

I don't judge anyone for the type of dog they have. I figure if you have a dog you can't be all that bad. LOL

Not a biggie.

There are pro's and con's to all breeds, the bulldogs just have tons of con's, but they are a blast to own.

As I'm typing this a ice cream truck just went by playing "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer"....in May.  What the hell?
