Sources say Brady suspension coming next week

Mr. Scot

Maybe I just value my privacy too much, but unless it's for a criminal investigation I'm not letting anybody view my personal records (phone or otherwise) unless I absolutely have to.

Brady wasn't forced to do so.  Neither were the two other guys, but they chose to cooperate.  Brady didn't.

Yes, it's his right, but that doesn't prevent the league from taking a dim view of it and thus, choosing to lengthen a suspension.

If you wanna say a suspension for this violates his rights, you'll have to show me where the Constitution guarantees the right to play in the NFL.

According to the CBA, players are required to cooperate fully with investigations. I don't think they were asking too much considering they were only interested in texts between him and those two and they were going to do that in his presence.

Didn't know that was a CBA thing. Probably should have figured that, but thanks for the heads up.

"You don't have to do this, but if you don't we're going to punish you further"

I know he wasn't forced, but my initial point was that his refusal shouldn't factor into the punishment. As celibate pointed out though, it's in the CBA so that kind of blows away my stance.

Maybe if he wasn't guilty. But since he is..

Honestly, a lot of employers could say/do the same thing.

Worth remembering in this case that although it is his private phone, it was in use for something related directly to his work.  Since it can rightly be said that he was "conducting business", they're not really invading his privacy.

All that said, don't be surprised if Brady's agent makes a similar argument.  Right now, he's out there throwing everything but the kitchen sink at this, trying to minimize it and make the NFL look bad.  Given that it's already been pointed out that some of what he's been saying is just patently false, I'd say he's making himself look bad - and by extension, Brady - more so than the league.

I don't think the punishment should be that harsh. The act wasn't anything crazy. Maybe a game or two for lying though.

Perhaps if this was the first time the Patriots cheated. You forget about Spygate's slap in the wrist and the other possible violation a few years back. The Patriots refuse to play fair and it's time an example was made of the organization.

Anything less than a 10 game suspension for Brady and a high draft pick will be too soft of a punishment.

It wasn't "give us your phone and go home" kinda deal. They told him that the phone would be examined in the presence of him and his lawyers. They were most likely going to examine the texts between him and those dudes only in he and his lawyers presence. I don't see the big deal IF he has nothing to hide.

Thus the extent to which he refused to cooperate with the investigations coupled with the cheating should equal a harsh suspension.

Exactly. Some people are acting like they were going to read his personal texts between him and Giselle.

Patriots fans are the only ones who think Brady is innocent LMAO

They're even throwing Kraft under the bus. Brady with that fake politician smile.

And non-Patriots fans are demanding a ridiculous punishment due to their hatred for the team.
