La'el Collins signs with Cowboys

WWL Louisiana NFL analyst Mike Detillier says Collins should fit well into the Dallas offense.

"He's a big masher up front in the running game, much-improved as a pass-protector, but a great run blocker. Look what the Cowboys do best: they play smash-mouth football," said Detillier. "I think right off the bat, they were certainly one of the early favorites."

...

"Jerry knew he had to make the deal quick, because if not, other teams were going to get more heavily involved, here," said Detillier. "I gotta give credit to Jerry Jones in this situation here."

Hey, when you have a chance to land Nordstrom talent for Dollar Tree prices, it's what you SHOULD do.  Smart move by the cowgirls.

oh I wasn't saying they weren't smart to do that

Not sure if this has been posted yet... The LSU Weight Room a couple years ago...

the guy who posted that, LSU's strength and conditioning coach, said this about that back in 2012:

Tommy Moffitt ?@TommyMoffitt

Can I get a RT? The pic from office window is old news.

These guys had all missed a class. Great kids and hard

workers. #tigertough #LSU

Jerry Jones is a business man and he took a wine/dine business man approach.  Presentation is everything.  Would have liked Collins but got to give credit where credit is due.  Jerry Jones outworked everyone else and got the player he wanted.

If JJ got AP to be their RB, I would declare JJ sold his soul to the devil. Also C2KJ wants to play for them. Imagine that o-line with AP coming at you all game then a break away speed back like C2KJ then comes in and blows by the D for a long TD. Who needs a QB with an o-line with two HOF RB coming at you all game.............

That o-line has gotten me envious..............

Collins was on the national radar.  We weren't relying on our terrible local beat writers on this one.

I'm not "bashing" the organization.  I'm simply stating that it would be in accordance with our recent history if we didn't even inquire about Collins.  We had James Hurst here in our backyard for the taking last year and showed zero interest.  He went on to start at OT for the Ravens last year as a UDFA while we fielded the worst OT tandem in the NFL in Byron Bell and Nate Chandler.

And let's not forget about Seantrel Henderson who also went undrafted and now is the Bills starting RT.  As far as I know, we also showed zero interest in him as well.

We can laugh at Dallas all day but they've assembled a team to make a DEEP run and imo are the team to beat in the NFC

I'll start fearing them when They actually beat some good teams regularly. They had one of the cakest schedules in the league last year. Everyone can talk about how good they look on paper, but more than once these teams "winning" in the offseason fall flat on their face come the regular season.

Half their starters are a breeze away from injury or a mean look/drug test away from suspension. They might win the East next year, but their defense isn't built for the playoffs.
