Anyone else a little worried about DE?

Addison was the one who got the playing time against Seattle in the playoffs. Not Ealy.

You can't cite the playoff game as the reason Addison is over Ealy when you have a player who wasn't even active for the game ranked second.

The only reason we think DE looks bad is because almost every other position (besides safety, and maybe LT) is stacked. I personally didn't care for the Mayo pick. I wish We would have gotten a safety or DE there, but Gman knows better than me. But I think we will at least be better at DE than last year.

Then I will add that Addison played in all 16 games and 45% of the defensive snaps for the season compared to Ealy's 15 games and 35% of the defensive snaps.

Not to mention Addison out produced Ealy in sacks, pressures, and tackles.

Add that to the playoff games, and Kony Ealy is dead last on the depth chart at DE outside of the undrafted rookie that was brought in recently.

Kony Ealy had all season to make an impact and elevate himself to #2. Never happened on the field no matter how much anyone wants to believe he is the future. He could not get past Addison or Horton on that depth chart.

A rookie played behind a 7 year pro, let's invest ALL of our emotions into proving this point.

i have high hopes for kony ealy after seeing what he had to offer in limited action he has some of the same qualities as hardy I'm especially excited to seem him lined up inside like we used hardy i feel thats where we would throw defenses off let alone having kana short who can line up outside himself out team is very versatile offensively and defensively i see the big picture of what gentleman is trying to do have players that can matchup with whatever situation the opponent throws at us

I think if you look at our roster it doesn't seem like we have many holes, if any. But DE looks a little thin with Hardy's leave. I'm not worried about Ealy. I think he's got the tools be a really good player. It's depth behind CJ that bothers me. We all know Big Money can play. But the way he plays makes him prone to injury in my opinion. His motor is non stop which I appreciate.

However, God forbid if CJ gets hurt are we banking on Frank Alexander to step up? I know Addison and Horton are good rotational players but how many here feel they can take on a starting role?

I'm not worried about DE at all bro. We have the same players we had last year, Hardy for all intents and purposes never even played last year. We got some guys back and healthy, that have managed to not take supplements from the banned list, and we have 2 shiny brand new athletic LBers that could fill in a pinch.

Our defense will be better than it was last year, and our offense will be out of this world with the addition of Funchess and Payne.

I am however worried about fair weather fans that constantly second guess and doubt what our GM and HC have worked so hard to build. If DE is a weakness, we'll get better after pre season cuts. I can't imagine us not addressing an area of need, if it's a true need or just added depth.

I'm looking forward to the best Panthers season ever, and will continue to ignore the negative nancies that somehow comprise of more than 50% of the posters here.

Relax, and just watch. We will have one if the soundest 53s in all of football come week 1.

I am not sure an O with Oher and Remmers at the T position can be considered out of this world lol
