That won't stop them...

NFL is so screwed up due to the PR nightmares. I do not think it will be anytime soon before the league gets back to normal because this might be the new 'normal'.....

They're set at LT. Used their 1st round pick (#6 overall) in 2010 on Russell Okung.

 

 

Great thing is they're FAR from set long term on the OL.  In fact, this is the last year on Okung's deal and their OL on the whole looks far worse than ours.  But, immediate playing time, at OT, at LT even, it's here.

This whole situation seems royally fuged to me. This kid now gets to sign where ever he pleases? I think he should have to reenter the draft next year. I just feel like this makes a mockery of the entire process.

 

Then his value would drop for sitting out a year. He's already lost about $4m for doing nothing wrong, this is just consolation.

 

I don't understand why UDFA contracts need to be capped so low anyway. In what other situation would every team pass on a guy for 7 rounds only to have a bidding war on him immediately after?

Only situation I can see would be to prevent players from working demanding they sign with a certain team. If a guy is a high draft pick m, but only wants,to play for the patriots, he could refuse to sign with anyone and then get his first round money after the draft. I think the nfl is being too hard on this kid in this case, he should be allowed in the supplemental draft.

There's a reason why Collins was wanting to pull out of the draft and either enter the supplemental draft or enter the 2016 draft and that reason is $$$$.  He's going to lose millions in the next few years by going undrafted.  Seems like some people are overlooking the fact that Collins and his agent TRIED to pull out of the draft and that it was the NFL that denied them the ability to do so.

that's the rules the player's union and the NFL agreed to in the CBA. Specifically the rookie wage scale. Both sides agreed that UDFAs couldn't have a contract worth more than anyone drafted that year. And it's not much of a bidding war. The signing bonuses for UDFAs have a limit. So he'll get several similar offers and choose where he wants to go. At least he has the freedom to decide where he'll play. Cam's never had that and probably never will.

 

It's a bad situation for La'el, but at least he's still alive. Can't say as much for that woman and her baby. Those two come first before ANYTHING else. Job of the police is not to worry about La'el's draft status. It's to find their killer.

What would be wrong with a team signing him for rookie max and work out some sort of endorsement deal under the table with a sponsor.

It's that whole "wrong" and "under the table" thing that might not work out.
