After May 9th (when LSU finishes finals) teams will be in full frenzy mode but he may have already selected a team or narrowed it down to a few. He can meet with those teams after 9 May.

I thought teams just couldn't go to his home or school before May 9th. Anywhere else is fine. Correct me if I'm wrong

If he is cleared, the NFL should really make an exception for him and let him negotiate for contracts at the rookie scale he would likely have been drafted at.

Hope we can land him. That story back in January (IIRC) had us and Trai checking into him and showing a lot of interest.  

 

He is one of two or three draftees that could have surplanted Oher at LT.  I know a lot project him to guard, but I see a LT just as much when I watched his DraftBreakdown vids. 

 

We may not be Rex or have a plane full of young former LSU players, but Turner played on that line with him 2 years ago.... I hope their rapport is tighter than Landry, Williams, etc. from the 'Phins.

I actually think we have the best shot to get him. There seem to be maybe 5 teams or so that are in the real running for him. I honestly believe that we put HIM in the best position for him and his future. Play him at LT (which is what he wants). Start him likely (which is what he wants). Already expressed specific interest in playing with his buddy Trai who hyped him up to play. Play on an up and coming team that is poised to do some winning and elevate his profile as his "addition" to the team would coincide with the line playing better (regardless of his actual impact) and the team playing well and winning.

 

Most teams want him as a guard (miami and NO). Most teams won't start him at tackle. I'm not saying it's a lock or anything but I really like our chances.

And how do you accurately determine that?

 

IMO, the NFL should've let the kid withdraw his name from the regular draft and enter the supplemental draft.  Not sure why they didn't.  I thought that made a ton of sense for everyone involved.

That's not 100% clear. But what is clear is that the NFL sent out a message to stay away from "teams" (not sure what that really means) until after 9 May. So all of this meeting with him stuff will be dead until 10 May I suspect.
