NFL Free Agent Collins Cleared as Suspect

My point is fairly simple. People rejoiced he wasn't the father. But that's nOT the only aspect to question.

The same report also said that he passed a polygraph given by the police. I know I was reacting to that more than the paternity test results. To me, if he passed a police polygraph (while inadmissable in court I know) it means he is done with the investigation and has been completely exonerated from any involvement.

Which means he is free to play football with a clear conscience. Paternity, to me, was largely irrelevant.

What about the fact he passed a polygraph and has had no contact with her in at least 5 months.. It's a sad situation all around and the saddest thing is 2 lives have been taking.. But right now it seems pretty clear the boy is innocent.. The police now need to find the real killer who is still out there..

I personally think he's coming here quickly.

It has been reported that he is going to meet with the Cowboys shortly after May 9th, which I believe is the last day of the semester for LSU students and our rookie mini-camp is May 8th-9th so if he chooses to come to Carolina he will behind the 8 ball a little.

But same goes for Shaq because of the quarters system at UW, so it won't be tragic but Collins won't be putting himself in the best place to succeed.

I'd imagine his list is realistically 4-5 teams and he might meet with each and every one of those teams before making a decision.

Agreed. I think I even saw reports that he is in Dallas TODAY. I guess they are going with the whole it's not on campus or at his residence thing. I don't think Dallas is seriously in the mix though because he likely wouldn't start at LT or RT. But I do hope he makes a quick decision to come to Carolina so he get into training sooner rather than later. I don't know. I just have a gut feeling that he will choose CAR. It's likely just that second cup of coffee though.

A little off topic, but I'm amazed that I'm not the only Panthers fan in Maryland.

I feel like the Panthers are a strong candidate,  but we don't seem to be making the same aggressive approach as other teams in the league.

In terms of fit, I believe we are the perfect one for Collins. We are more run heavy than most and Collins is a mauler, are a up and coming championship contender, can offer him a chance to claim the top position on the Oline at LT immediately, and have Trai here to see him through the ups and downs.

But his priorities are his own, I'm hoping his agent is done spewing crap from his mouth and is now looking out for the best interests of his client and sees Carolina as a strong fit because his family will almost certainly want him to stay in Louisiana.

100% agree on everything you said on Collins but I'm not sure that the effort from the team isn't there. Every report I see now names about 5 teams and we are one of them. Plus we had him in more than once before the draft. I just think the FO is quiet about these things. But I don't know.

As for MD, are you in Baltimore? I'm looking to get a group of Panther fans together on Sundays at a bar to be named later (likely in Canton area) to watch games...with the sound on...gasp! If we get enough interest and participation, eventually getting the Charm City Riot chapter of Roaring Riot up and running.

La'el Collins gets polygraph, paternity test results in murder investigation; will visit Cowboys

"We got the test results back today," Baton Rouge Police Department spokesman Don Coppola told NOLA.com on Wednesday, "and La'el Collins is not the father of the baby."

Collins also passed a polygraph test in connection with the murder. Baton Rouge police do not consider Collins a suspect or person of interest in the case.

True when Gettlemen is mum on a subject that is when you know work is being put in behind the scenes and he was quite mum about Collins.

I'm 10-15 minutes outside of Baltimore, but I'm not sure if I'm the kind of company you normally keep. I'm a little wet behind the years and just turned 21 in January. Though I would love to see more Panthers games live than I currently do which is held to prime time games mostly.

LSU OL La'el Collins set to meet with Dallas, other NFL teams Saturday

NFL teams are free to officially meet with undrafted free agent offensive tackle La'el Collins Saturday and the queue is filling up.

Dallas has scheduled a meeting with the former LSU Tiger Collins, according to an NFL source, and he's already had unofficial meetings with two others.

Looks like he may not be meeting with Dallas today but has instead set up meetings on Saturday the 9th with Dallas and potentially other teams. The two others mentioned above are Buffalo and Miami for those who have been in a hospital bed this week. :)
