The story doesn't go into WHO said he was cleared specifically or any details but this may just be breaking.

"In a developing story that has become more clear as the days roll on former LSU offensive lineman La'el Collins has been cleared as a suspect in the shooting death of his former girlfriend Brittney Mills."

So it's either irresponsible reporting or they broke the being "cleared" part but aren't giving specifics. If it ends up being nonsense please delete but I figured it warranted a new thread.

If the kid truly had nothing to do with this and was simply a victim of circumstance, he got screwed HARD.

With that said, there's no way that Gettleman and other Panthers' staff haven't had some conversations with Trai Turner to get the scoop on this guy.  I have to think if he's fully cleared, we make a hard push to sign him.

You have to assume he has an idea where he is playing now. Teams cant really pay him whatever, hes locked into a contract structure. If hes completely cleared lets see where he ends up.

Say he did pick the Panthers. Itd be an attention grabbing story that will, without warrant, raise the expectation level for the season in the media.

Now is it a free for all for his services?

After May 9th (when LSU finishes finals) teams will be in full frenzy mode but he may have already selected a team or narrowed it down to a few. He can meet with those teams after 9 May.

    • If I’m putting myself in a team’s shoes - you’re looking at these prospects and Warren hits most boxes for a TE with a plus on most. So yeah, he’s a great prospect, no doubt, 1st round talent as a TE. But when I look at him through the lens of that PSU offense, they were running so much through him, I’m not so sure it was beneficial to seeing how he translates.  They were getting him open in the flat, running weird trick plays, and designed a lot of ways to find him on delayed seam routes and such. So a lot was structured around getting him the ball in creative ways to advance the ball, in steady sequences, methodically down the field.  Thing is, yeah he’s catching a ton, is big, and can block, but throw him into an NFL offense in a more traditional sense, he’s gonna be stickied by speedy LBs and big nickels. I just wonder how he is in a more isolated fashion— when he’s just a piece of a greater NFL offense getting shadowed by more talented defenders. I think it could still be great but I have question marks when it’s at the TE position. Will he look no different than other very solid TEs or is he this offensive centerpiece at the position that doesn’t come along often (Bowers, Gronk, Kelce, Witten, TG, etc)? I think he brings a ton and could be one of the safer TE prospects, but what I’m unsure about is if you’re really getting this new age Witten type people are crowning him as. Even if that’s the case, is that worth it? If he wasn’t in PSU’s Franklin/Allar offense, would you be seeing the same output?  More questions than anything - I could get on board with it, but it’s hard for me to really project because of how that offense was (which was so frustrating at times).
    • Twitter sources, but supposedly the Rams want him. He might actually go Round 1.
    • You aren't going to ever get him out of the equation. As he has stated previously, he believes it his right to make the final call on decisions.
