Final Four: Juventus vs. Real Madrid

Recommended Posts

I don't think anyone is surprised Juve won in Italy lol..... Real are still the heavy favorites to go through. A 1-0 win at the Bernabeu is all it's gonna take. Imo Juve's only chance is a hero performance by Bufon

The reactions I've seen are surprise that Juve beat RM in Turin, but confidence that RM will get the job done and advance today. Back in his prime, Buffon was amazing, but he's almost 40 so you don't see many heroic performances, so i wouldn't count on that. Juve's D is tough and they might be able to hold off RM by themselves, but as always, Juve's biggest weakness is their attack.

Juve's five main goal-scorers are:

strikers (they only play two at a time)

27 - Tevez (7 in CL)

10 - Morata (3 in CL)

7 - Llorente (1 in CL)

midfield

9 - Pogba (1 in CL)

8 - Vidal (1 in CL)

Juve fans will hope for yet another heroic performance from Tevez (Argentina), but those other 4 need to step up. The young phenom Pogba (France) was out Leg 1, but looks like he's cleared to play today. Vidal's (Chile) form is down from his normal great play this year ever since his surgery over the offseason. Morata (Spain) is a young promising striker from Real Madrid, but he's still putting it together. Llorente (Spain) is 6 ft 5 in and is best at knocking in crosses with his head. Also, keep an eye on Pirlo (Italy), he is devastating on set pieces.

Also it will be interesting to see if Juve decides to "park the bus" and go with 5 backs (3 center-backs) like they did in Leg 2 vs both Dortmund and Monaco

I'd really like to see Juve advance.

Watching Suarez run riot over Evra and Chiellini would be hilarious.

if Suarez was on Juve instead if Barca, that *would* make things more interesting. Suarez and Tevez would be a blast to watch together

poor Chiellini and Evra. Ages 30 and 33. Barzagli is 34, Bonucci is 28. Lichtsteiner is 31. Pirlo is 35. Marchisio is 29. Yet they have performed admirably together as the heart of Juve's great D. We'll see if they can do it again against Ronaldo, Bale, James and friends

Massimiliano Allegri, Juventus coach

"We won't change the way we play. They attack with five players. We need to be very good. ... We won't change the way we defend. This will be an interesting match – from a tactical point of view, we can't change much from the first leg. We will need to be really good to get through this match with serenity. We'll have to play well, but getting a 0-0 draw will be almost impossible. In this kind of game you can't just think about defending."
