People latch on to anyone they believe to be in some sort of a more public light than themselves.  You just have to learn to live with it.  I play music for people in my city as a hobby and just for the love of sharing it, but after I am done doing that, and need to do normal things like take a piss, I can barely make it from the stage to the bathroom without 20 people stopping me to say something.  As much as that makes me feel like King of the world for that moment, eventually you don't notice those people and people don't notice you not noticing them.  I know it's not the same and am not trying to compare myself to a professional athlete, because obviously there is a massive difference, but really it is, nuthuggers will always be there whether you know they are or not, ignoring them is not being mean, you just become the strong silent type.
