Huddlers, Top Dawg kinda twisted his words a bit.

 

If you actually watch the vid this is what he said.. exact quote

 

"Some teams that I'm not sure sure is going on there, Carolina. I'm guessing their signing La'El Collins whenever they get a chance to as an UDFA, to come out of that draft with no real offensive line help, to reach for Shaq Thomspon, to trade up for Devin Funchess who has a lot of bust potential, I just have not heard scouts say good things about the players they took, and about they way they took them, but then again, you never know, Dave Gettleman and the Panthers may get the last laugh, none of us know how this is going to shake out, as I talk to people now in real time, these are some of the things you pick up, and the Browns.. Now that you put it that way...I can see that. But, It all depends on how you look at it, I guess. I don't believe that he was being sarcastic when he said it, as much as he was going from point to point to point.

You can't argue that he made the mental connection.

Now, sure you can blow it off as Newton talking out of his ass, but I doubt it.  So I definitely think that provided he is cleared as a suspect that he will be in play.

 

You can't deny the tie, and I Know that Collins has the Panthers on his radar from what he said earlier this year.

If Dave or Rivera make the call early and give him the opportunity once he is cleared, then I certainly feel good about our chances.

Collin's won't be signing until the cops confirm he had nothing to do with the killing, AND the teams and NFL have cleared his situation.  Once a team feels that he's clean, then we'll start to see some movement on his position.

 

Personally, I'm not sure the Panther would go for him considering our history with players and violence and how the owernship feels regarding that.  As a football player, I'd LOVE to have a guy who can play LT come into play LT, even if he's an OK LT but great LG.  That was be super awesome.

 

I'm not going to get my hopes up for Collins though.  It he comes, that's great and all, but he's got a lot of bagge to clear up before anything happens.

No problem. You may be absolutely right. I probably heard what I wanted to hear.  I edited the OP somewhat as well.  I don't want to totally mislead anyone.  It is nice to know that there is some type of connection. We'll wait and see how it all turns out which may take some time, but hopefully not an extended amount of time.  Fingers crossed!

Even if he is found not have been involved at all, I KNOW how Jerry Richardson feels about such problems, and even being associated with it.

That's what I see there.  He could be completely clean and in no way wrong, but Richardson will (ok may, we don't know) not want a repeat of some of the other less savory moments in Panthers' history.
