what would make you think that leonard and boone are capable of keeping blockers off them.?

not saying they cant.but Boone is old and past his prime.played on a team that got ran on.Leonard is unproven and prob would have gotten cut anyway..

Because by sending a late pick their way for Leonard, we didn't have to wait and didn't have to bid. We got a big guy whose shown some decent flashes into camp, ASAP.

He probably won't be as good as Kemo, but he'll probably be decent enough to stem the bleeding quite a bit.

Good find!!! Thats kinda what I was thinking as well. I'd bet they may make the move if no one else is available after cuts. I think we should be able to find someone a little younger that has some playing time under their belt as well. My dark horse is someone released from the Patriots, they drafted 3 DT's this season so I would expect someone to get released there. Green Bay also has a lot of beef as well.

the biggest reason we stunk up the joint last year on D was b/c of our one dimensional DTs.....Fox needs DTs who are solid in pass rushing for his schemes to work.......it is really tough to get excited about bringing in sub par scrubs who specialty is being somewhat good against the run. Fox needed to bring someone who could do what Kemo couldn't do (and that was before the injury)......now are focus is on bringing in a crappier version of Kemo.

Someone had to say it. Kemo took up space but interior pressure has been minimal from anyone.

I think that if on your football team, Kemo gets hurt and your defense is now collapsing around you.....then you had bigger problems. The Giants lost Osi and their pressure was still devastating. We traded Jenkins last season and still have not made real strides on replacing him through free-agency or the draft. Of course the Maxxed out cap hurts the FA route.

The raiders

Despite reports that he was signing in Carolina, free agent DT Alfonso Boone is scheduled to meet with the Raiders.

Perhaps the Panthers weren't sold on a player junked by the Chiefs? Oakland is expected to offer him a contract and are now considered the favorites to sign the run-stopping tackle.
