I would keep Favorite and jetson the rest of the garbage. I even would get rid of Lewis if he wouldn't create such a cap hit. We really need to just gut this interior line and start from scratch.

That's somehting you do in February if you're going to do it. September, you make due with what you got, tweaking as apprpriate.

Favorite and Hayden are going on the practice squad. Lewis and Leonard/Boone will start, with Irvin backing up Lewis. We'll go with a steady rotation to keep guys fresh, and Brayton and Johnson will slide in on passing downs.

Both Leonard and Boone are capable of keeping blockers off of Beason, which is what made Kemo so valuable. I don't see why everyone's complaining. It looks to me like the FO is making chicken salad.

We haven't even signed Boone yet. The story said it would be today but nothing has happened. It also said we have been in communication with him since his release. I'd suspect we wait until after cuts on Saturday and if no one good is released then we sign him.

Yeah, you're right. I thought about that after I posted but was too lazy to edit.

Until Gantt says it happened, it didn't happen. :)

That's it. I've had enough. I'm ordering 3 orders of 1/3 pounder "big sized" meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner everyday with a lard milkshake (extra chunky) on the side. I'm sitting on my ass and watching all the Army Wives my wife has to offer.

That's the plan. I'll be ready to sign by Week 8.

what would make you think that leonard and boone are capable of keeping blockers off them.?

not saying they cant.but Boone is old and past his prime.played on a team that got ran on.Leonard is unproven and prob would have gotten cut anyway..

    • I honestly didn't like trading up on the 2nd to draft a RB with a torn ACL. That didn't seem like a great move for this roster. But it wouldn't be a bad move if he proved to be a quality starter. But now signing Chuba to starter money on the hells of that? Yeah, that's significant roster building assets tied up in the RB position which has been a hallmark of the Panthers' roster building thought process over the years which has led to zero sustained success on the field.
    • But it's not a plug and play like teams were thinking.  Ask the Cowboys and the Bears thinking they were fine letting Montgomery walk.  Ask the Texans who had to trade for Mixon because their backfield held them back.  @Bear Handsbroke down the top running teams in the league and they have a very similar allocated of money/investments in the RB room.  It's a $15 million guaranteed contract over 4 years.  IF we are paying him the full 32 then he is playing very well and earning 8 plus million a year over 4 years.  I don't think we are doing the starter/backup scenario.  Our OC even said he has plays featuring both backs in the backfield.  We are trying to be a RB committee with a RB room that isn't that expensive compared to the league average.  IF Chuba plays to his top potential and we pay out all money he will average between Stevenson and Swift's average salary.
    • I'm just reporting it, not getting excited.  That will no doubt go down with new contracts. But because we've been drafting so many busts, there's no one in house to extend lol.  Could be spent on a lot of known resources.
